Necrophobic is totally unknown band to me. What's the best album to start with?

So does it come in a metal box ? I haven't been able to find any pics of it

I don't know if there's a box version of it - the one I have is a standard CD in a jewel case.

"The Nocturnal Silence" is their best full length without question. Later works tend to be competent but somewhat uninteresting blackened death - but the debut is EXCELLENT blackened death. This new compilation is their demos and first EP, and if you like classic buzzsaw Swedish death like Nihilist, this CD is actually a fine place to begin. Two of the three recordings were recorded in Sunlight Studios, and the one that wasn't still sounds really clear and heavy. Honestly as I sit and listen to this now I am blown away by it.

I really have no idea what happened to their sound. The Nocturnal Silence is such a great release, but the rest of them are... Confused

David Parland who was their main songwriter left for Dark Funeral after the mcd "Spawned by Evil" which is the reason why their sound changed for the worse - I think some songs on "Darkside" were still written by him.

The vocalist also changed/stayed with Blackshine after the debut album.

I think "Darkside" is really good too, but yeah, "Nocturnal Silence" and the demos are fucking incredible. I wish they kept the same vocal style as on the demos for the rest of the stuff...

That was the guy from Crematory, right? They sounded so powerful and heavy on those early recordings.

By the way I played the entire CD earlier, and it all sounds really good. As much as I bitch about Regain and their turnaround time, they did this release right. There have been some really disgraceful demo releases and reissues lately, so it's nice to have one that isn't fucked up in some way. I hope Relapse does as well with the Nirvana 2002 CD.

It's just a CD, man - what kind of pics would you want? The cover art is on the Metal Archives:
