This is the best release ever labeled "technical death metal". It's in a whole different league compared to their "colleagues" and incomparably better compared to their own later output.

Settle down.

It is a decent listen, but doesn't hold up to repeated spins or age i don't think. It is pretty Vader too.

they were only 16 years old. I still coulnt understand how they control, develop their skills and write down the riffs that today many good dm musicians still hardened to play. Great!

I thought about that album too. One of the last CDs I bought. Blew me away when it came out. The maturity they display is surreal. Technically speaking I remember it wasnt flawless but still mindblowing and they had real fucking riffs.
Kinda like the VERMINOUS of Technical DM. Teen prodigees with a total devotion to DM.

Adding DEEDS OF FLESH "Path of Awakening" to the thread. No wankery but impressive and suffocating.

I'm beginning to suspect these suggestions are just Sabbat (UK) or Suffocation type clones with "complicated" riffs and there is no fretless 7 string bass wankery anywhere to be found....

Even Spawn of Possession is too brutal and not enough wank for me when I'm in the mood for this stuff. Frankly I don't know what the fuck an "arpeggio" is but I know they have to be shredded, and shredded fucking hard.....

Arpeggio =
playing the notes of a chord in (any) sequence rather than simultaneously.

Tech DM has a much greater likelyhood of SUCK than BM
BUT
it's successes are more salient.
BM is a consolidation, a regression;
in ideology, lyrical content and idiomatic form it represents the past.
Tech DM is an expansion, a progression;
in ideology, lyrical content and idiomatic form it represents the future.
Unfortunately, the extended techniques used in Tech DM are invariably NOT USED PROGRESSIVELY, that is, their application is always done the same way ...they don't progress with the progressiveness.
HOWEVER the few TDM bands that do push the envelope are much more enriching to the development of extreme heavy metal than those in it's other genres...INFESTED BLOOD, MINDLY ROTTEN, find the rest on your own.

PROGRESS THE TECHNICAL EXTREMITY OF THE IDIOM at your own risk

I like Mindly Rotten also. Talented players. I bought the debut blindly and went up from there. Shame about their cover art after the debut though.

Anata is far and away my favorite technical death metal band. They are the Arghoslent of that genre as far as songwriting ability goes. Some of their melodies give me chills.

yep.
...like ABHORRENCE (Bra) they've got the chops but need to work on songwriting...compare almost any TDM to the (only) EP by INCESTUOUS or
"Man's True Nature" by INFERNAL TORMENT ..

Was just revisiting one of my favorite teenage years records, Gorod - Neurotripsicks and it holds up!! So many sick groovy riffs if that's your thing.

Desecravity from Japan put out an album I would not want to be stuck bumper to bumper listening to. Complete gridlock mindfuck roadrage.

Desecravity would be alot better if it was not for those plastic drums...

Is Origin already mentioned by the way? I didn't like their last 2 albums, but when it comes to " Echoes of decimation" and "Antithesis", there's nothing to complain about when it comes to technical ferocity! Evil or Very Mad
