boring as fuck re-hashed dissection stuff...is it the gimmick with all the blood?

saw them live opening for dissection and they were totally mayhem worship, especially the singer that was dead clone (unburied maggot holed shirt and jeans, posing/moving on the stage). he also feed the crowd with a dead pigeon Rolling Eyes
I was supposed to see them for the second time opening for celtic frost but I skipped for drinking beer with friends outside the venue

if they latest stuff is as good as dissection I think I will check them out

Not read everything , but i think this is a phenomenon now . Of course they deserve it because of their intense touring . THOUGH , i think they've lost all their obscurity and malignity after the first album . Now you can see 12 years old kids with watain tshirt . speaking of that , it's not because you have a drummer who work in a tshirt factory that you have to do 5 different design each month . money money money ....

and fuck NO : I CAN'T SEE ANY SIMILARITIES BETWEEN WATAIN AND MIGHTY DISSECTION . Everyboday say that , everybody say that they are the new dissection .... that's WRONG !!!!! erik don't try to look like Jon , he try to look like Dead !!!!

My favourite current band.

Watain epitomise everything black metal is supposed to be.

Good band really, and their liveperformances have been excellent each time.
And these will be out any day now:

Nope. Their layouts etc are excellent but the music bores me to death. About their convictions I donīt know nor do I care.

It becames something to huge to stay morbid , and their last album is really not good , according to my opinion of course . It's a kind of " best of" of black metal , you know , use of old school hellamer thing , a bit of melody there , etc ...

And the voice of Erik is commpletly destroyed !

They are already. CLICK

Kapalika nailed it. Having a look at those PicLP editions I'm about to order 'em for the layout/art alone. A pity that the music doesn't do anything for me (anymore).

Not quite sure I'd order those if I didn't like the music, heh.
Thanks for the info though!

I see a bit, and I mean just a little bit, of Dissection in this band but overall the Mayhem influence is what's more evident.

Didn't like them a whole lot at first but fuck they've grown on me and as much as it's maligned, Sworn To The Dark is fucking brilliant. Songs are good and memorable and they actually all stand out from each other which is tons more than can be said for a lot of bands these days.

I like Casus Lucifieri alot, nearly played it to death. I kind of like the kind of orthodox blackmetal that sweden has produced alot of lately. Ondskapt, Watain, Ofermod, all among my favorite bands.

Watain are not an "orthodox" band.

I praise this band to death. It seems that many people have a problem with them since they're becoming "hype" or "big" but I think it's a well deserved reward because of their dedicated work and enthusiasm on what they do. Can't think on any other band which stand better than them the spirit of the old true Mayhem and regardless to what many purists out there claim, "Sworn to the dark" is an exercise of pure Metal art at its finest.

Total agreement here. Casus Luciferi is one of the best Black Metal records of all time. Many people having problem with how big the band is growing, but they are just spreading the spirit of Black Metal.

I my self gotten a bit 'scared' when I saw them on mTV, that could just not end well I thought, but still, Watain will always be one of my fave bands. Sworn to the Dark is no exception. Killer sound, killer melodies, I like the lyrics a lot and the music is amazing, but of course all that is just my opinion.

I like them a lot.

But everyone that don't notice the Dissection influences on Sworn to the Dark is deaf. For example (but there's MANY cases): listen to the beginning of The light that Burns the Sun, sounds a lot like a Where Dead Angels Lie riff.. doesn't it?

Can't wait to see them on October 4th in Montreal.
