…what would be the first 5 items you would buy back?

For me I'd have to start at the beginning…

Autopsy-"Severed Survival" on CD
Morbid Angel-"Altars Of Madness" on CD
Immolation-"Dawn Of Possession" on CD
Suffocation-"Effigy Of The Forgotten" on CD
Incantation-"Onward To Golgotha" on CD

At this point in life would some of you just say "Fuck It" and go digital? Shocked

I'd just kill myself, as losing the product of a 30+ year labor of love would be too much to bear.

(only 3/4-kidding)

I'd buy

1) equivalent/better TT
2) equivalent/better pre-amp
3) equivalent/better power amp
4) equivalent/better speakers
5) Beneath the Remains LP

That would set me back thousands, but after that I'd start chipping away with stuff like

Schizophrenia LP
Morbid Visions LP
Altars of Madness LP
Scream Bloody Gore LP
Leprosy LP
Spiritual Healing LP
Human LP
Individual Thought Patterns LP
Symbolic LP
Allman Bros Live at Fillmore East LP
Wish You Were Here LP
Band of Gypsys LP
Screams of Anguish LP

etc etc

For me, probably yes. Big bucks can buy a 'collection' in no time, but I think the reason many of love and are proud of what we have is the sheer labor of building it. Even if I got a big fat insurance check, I could build the same LP collection, but would it be my collection? NO.

I would 100% give up. cds and mp3s only if that happened. No way I have the time to dedicate to building up a collection again irrespective of the money involved.

Exactly. I'd just get the first few Maiden LPs, some Judas Priest and Slayer and then spend major bucks on a few top wants. Whittle that shit down to 100 LPs that are essential.

Ha. It's funny to read "so many" replies like this. We could all "liberate" ourselves pretty easily, but we don't. That collector bug is a true bitch.

I would never ever buy a CD or an LP again. I think I wouldn't even want to listen to music ever again in my life. I couldn't simply start again after collecting for about 25 years.

I would just try to download everything again. Losing vinyl and CDs would fucking suck but as long as I have access to the music I'd get over it.

This has literally happened to a few chilean metalheads from Valparaiso... there was a big fire last night that burnt to ashes over 1000 houses!!!

Sell all your records and buy real estate property.
