As we probably have a consensus on this forum that Rebel Extravaganza, Volcano & Now Diabolical are Satyricon's finest releases (I can already hear you screaming), what are your expectations for The Age Of Nero album? It will come out on November 3rd.

No expectations right here as I've never been into Satyricon and so "The Shadowthrone" was the last record I listened to a long time ago, but I have to say that this looks like a record I'd buy for the cover art alone. Quite tasteful with a lotta space for letting the imagination roam. Too bad the music won't fit the art most probably, will it?
*edit* Hey, where's the Iron Cross in the "O"? _________________

Rebel extravanganza is indeed an impressive album . i like it a LOT . But according to me " Volcano '" and " Now religious orthodox BM " are pure shit without any atmospheres . _________________ "When you see the children with x's on their head, if you dare to look at them, soon you will be dead." |

Having a guy from Slipknot as a live member. Touring with Cradle of Filth. Having a member of System of a Down as a guest musician on your album.
Satyr has no shame whatsoever. I see see them as a pop band under the guise of Black Metal.
I don't even like the early material anymore. |

Shadowthrone + Dark Medieval Times are classics, didn't liked the stuff after them . I even find Nemesis Divina fairly mediocre |

The early stuff is surely great (except for the folky crap on "The Shadowthrone"), but they really made their best and most inspired work with "Rebel Extravaganza" and especially (!!) "Volcano"!! If you don't feel the darkness in certain parts of the latter, you are just being consumed by pseudo-kvltness!! [Admittedly, the "Fuel For Hatred" track, as well as that immensely, embarrassing video for that one is utter bollocks, but eventually can't stain the rest of that KILLER album!!]
Didn't get most of "Now Diabolical" for some reason... _________________ "Slit my eyes, for they'll remember..." |

Agreed! Black Lava being the prime example of the darkness present in Satyricon's later albums. |

A question to those praising 'Rebel' and 'Volcano', did you start listening to Satyricon after or before these releases? |

I heard Satyricon for the first time when Dark Medieval Times was released.
I started to like them when Rebel Extravaganza was released. |

To each their own, I just think that Satyricon climaxed with The Shadowthrone and everything else has been progressively getting worse and worse. |

Opinions are like arseholes once again heh.
I like some parts of Dark Medieval Times, but the following two LPs are pretty much crap in my books. |
