Any tips about Toronto? I'll be there in two weeks and I wonder if there's any concert happening soon.
Tips on Canadian distros and/or music shops in Toronto would also be appreciated.
Cheers! Smile

Rotate This on Queen W is probably your best bet for records. Sonic Boom (2 locations) is okay but very little metal, Pandemonium (Keele and Dundas W) is great for used records but don't expect too much metal..... Hmmmm where else? Soundscapes in little Italy is okay but I wouldn't suggest going out of your way, mostly new cds but some cool diverse stuff and some records.

I don't know anything about shows, I rarely go.

You're better off taking advantage of the great eating and drinking than looking for brutal metal scores, honestly. Thirsty & Miserable has a great beer selection and great tunes/ambience. I suggest The Indie Ale House in the junction (right by Pandemonium) and right across the street is a place called The Hole in the Wall, great food but a lot of really hip people so beware if you're too brutal for that sort of thing.

I also really like The Wren at Danforth and Greenwood. GREAT FOOD and an awesome beer list. Worth the trip to the east end.

I'm not really listing stuff downtown, because downtown is for assholes....

I also suggest you find a California Sandwiches because it's the best fucking Italian sandwich in the city. There's one in little Italy, but be prepared to ask for directions, its hard to find.

Jerk King is the best Jamaican food in the city. Don't waste your time with Cool Running, it sucks. I live just down the street....

You should also go to Moog Audio and play all their cool synthesizers......

Thanks a lot for the tips! I'll definitely look into your eating and drinking suggestions. Very Happy

Yes. Yes it is.
Except for the Mill Street Brewery (which also has wicked food) in the Distillery District.
You might also want to check out the Royal Ontario Museum.

There was a cool show last weekend with Demontage and Cromlech but I dont think they'll be anything good for a while.

Toronto kinda sucks to be honest, unfortunately. Embarassed

No problem. Have a great time!! You could also smoke crack with the mayor, buy a gun, see the Raptors, pay $600 for leafs tickets, but I don't suggest any of those options.

The aquarium is apparently awesome but it's like $30. I haven't been yet but I want to go. Lots of lines.

Oh, another couple of record stores: round again on Baldwin. No metal, but lots of classical, jazz prog and other unique stuff. And Mike's Music at Broadview and Danforth. His pricing and store organization is really weird, but occasionally some cool finds. I bought a Bathory first lp for $25 last year. But don't expect a lot, it depends on his selection on hand. Nice guy. He's the one with a giant wizard beard.

And apparently the Bellwoods Brewery on ossington rules but I haven't been yet.

And if anyone tells you to check out the mill st. brewery they're an asshole. Only assholes go there. And the beer is average at best.

Oh, and the St. Laurence Market is awesome. If you can get there it's worth an amble through..... If you like markets, that is......

Fuck yeah mate!!!! Don't go into the strip club across the street, ugliest strippers in the city and you will probably get AIDS just from walking in the door. But at DD's you can get a burger with a pound of meat, cheese, bacon and a fried egg and eat it in a chair pulled from a minivan.

If you go into Jilly's with a girl, you will get shanked and the girl will wake up addicted to heroin in a Turkish brothel two months later

Do yourself a favor don't spend two weeks here nothing to do and see there was suicide bridge built on don valley parkway to down size on the city population that's how I describe Toronto. Don't be surprised once you get on the subway and it stalls means someone jumped on the tracks. Delays are very extended.
