Amazing weekend in the city! Absolutely killer sets from Imprecation, Hell Militia, Behexen, Sargeist, OTOH, and Cult of Fire. Couldn't have asked for a better fest. Next time though...how about NO professional photographers? Or at least limit them. ...til next time

This was my first time at this particular fest and it certainly wont be the last. Amazing shows all around. I was just bummed I missed so many bands that were on the bill. my fault.

As a pro photographer (who is essentially retired from concert photography) I am curious why you would feel this way. When I shot shows I did my best to be as invisible as possible and stay out of the way of the people who paid good money to see bands. I only went on stage when the band specifically requested it and didn't freak out when I got accidentally hit as that kind of goes with the territory.

its particularly irritating when trying to get into the atmosphere a band is trying to establish when there are 4 or 5 guys with their flash bulbs going off like the beatles just got out of a fucking limo. Also many feel entitled to just cut in front of you,or block your view, because owning a camera is somehow more important than your enjoyment of the show, and your personal space.

Thanks, I understand that completely. Most actual pros would not consider those who display that type of behavior as professionals. Flash is horrible for atmosphere, if the lighting is such that one has to use flash they need to either not shoot or invest in faster lenses. I will admit to cutting in front of people regularly, however once I got my shot I would move on to another spot.

Sargeist nailed it last night!!!

I don't know how they were on Saturday but they were incredible on Monday ... best performance I have seen at St Vitus and they were better than when the played as Behexen the night before!
Shatraug truly is a master at his craft ... he played as if he was in another dimension/in his own zone ... I don't even think he needed to look at his guitar when he played, just deathly stares at the audience or up above!
Hoath was on fire ... just one amazing vocal performance after another!

They practice the mantra of less is more unlike COF which came on an already crowded stage full of props/banners/scythes/burning incense with some goofy looking hoods...

Not my thing and their performance was meh compared to Sargeist ... and I noticed the crowd thinning as their set went on ...

"Shoot Knife Strangle Beat & Crucify" or something else?

Yes, that's the one...

from what i hear in this vid this was the setlist:

"Jacob's Ladder"
"Fili Diaboli"
"Black Arts Of Crime"
"Jonah"
"Torture Of The Saints"
"Death Worship"
"The Ultimate Deception"
"The Pig That Became A God"
"Black Fucking Cancer"
"Shoot Knife Strangle Beat & Crucify"

a shame they don't play "Goathrone". thought that would have been manditory...

That's the correct setlist indeed. Well for Goathrone maybe another time, always hard to please everyone unfortunately.

Great couple of days of shows, totally agree with the flashes, the guy taking flash photos every 5 seconds during lord mantis is a perfect example of one person ruining an entire set.

Other than that, one of the best venues I've been to excellent sound, atmosphere, beers, etc
