The drums and production are great. The bad thing is that when you see the band live Hellhammer always triggers his kit and the sound doesn't suit the songs from this fine album. Ruins the vibe.

Last time I briefly checked them live last May, and back then the whole band sounded really shitty. Attila as well. I'm sure even some entry level bands could play Funeral Fog better and tightly than nowadays Mayhem. Fuck, why don't they just quit?

Very good album. Saw them a year or two ago and it was great. The Ordo material sounded great live too.

Reminds me of when they played MDF a few years back. Easily one of the worst live acts I've ever seen and that horrid drum sound....unlistenable.

Great songs but I have never been able to get passed the production.

This shit is overrated because it's a Mayhem record.

Terrible amateurish record by the way.

Go back to Trollheim, pendejo.

This album gets discussed here way too often. It's a bizarre phenomenon.

It has, yet I've still never actually bothered to check it out. One of these days...

I have the opposite view. I have been incredibly moved by this album and regard it among my favorites. If some upstart band put this out on some cult label it would be a classic among the type that post here. But being from Mayhem it is looked at with extreme prejudice.

not without good reason.....

i think it is a good album, but does it have anything at all to do with the past mayhem? not at all...so skepticism is natural

the productuion is really underwhelming at first but like darkthrones a blaze...you kind of forget about it after a few minutes, and it sounds like anything else

certainly its unique

Honestly, I always wanted to like this album. However I've never been able to get past the production. The songs have so much atmosphere and weirdness. The flat and obscure sound really ruins this experience for me, makes it absolutely unbearable to listen all the way through without being completely bored...

Does that really matter? Bands evolve and try different things, and I wouldn´t want it any other way.
And it´s still unmistakably Blasphemer on guitars. As far as I´m concerned he has more than earned his stripes as Mayhem´s guitarist. Shame he left though!
