Yeah, that's what I too have read about the matter. I just wonder why Abbath's drumming is as shaky as it is on BITN. The speed is the same as on PH but he's less precise.

Drum production trickery. That's the only thing I can think of.

Kudos to those who mentioned Pizzahifive, Iron Dogs, and Jucifer! Jucifer crushes live and spends most of their time playing fast shit that isn't on any of their records (except the newest one maybe? I dunno)

PLF (though they've had live bass players from time to time)

I've never run into the material of Jucifer that would really appeal to me but they were seriously powerful live. Saw them supporting Today is the Day a few years ago.

Jucifer are indeed great. Their recorded material and live sound are two totally different animals, but I think that's part of the appeal.

The last two (Throned In Blood & The Russian Album) are very comparable to their live sound. I've seen them five times and it's always a good time. They tend to play here every December/January.

Amber's solo record is really cool too. Wish she would open a Jucifer show with a solo set.

I haven't heard the newest one yet, but you're right about Throned in Blood. I didn't care for the recording that much, but the songs work really well live.

Quite guilty of too many releases, but the good ones are REALLY great! "Bestial Antihuman Evil" kills! Is there a reason these guys don't play live outside of Poland? ...or at least, I'm not aware of them doing so!?

Agreed, although going by photos from Live Evil and the reissued Satanize split aren't they occasionally a three piece band as well?

We've reached "never heard of" territory with this thread.
