In 1 month I will be visiting Scotland for Caledonian Darkness and since i will stay there a whole week (in Glasgow) i was wondering if there are places i wouldnt want to miss. Historic sites, any famous castles, record stores, pubs, museums and anything else that might be of historical or entertainment value!

Thanks in advance!

If you're into whisky you could visit a distillery...

Herring in Oatmeal
Shearing sheeps
Get drunk in some distillery
Try to understand what they say
Trunk throwing
Eat the lamb
Weight over bar
Find a place where stay

Things to do not necessarily in this order ...

It's probably the most convenient to visit either Auchentoshan or Glengoyne. I'd go for the latter for personal preference but both should have pretty nice distillery tours and visitor centers so whichever works should be fine. You can also bottle your own at Auchentoshan, maybe even at Glengoyne, just check their website for the tour specifics. Whereever you end up, just bring some money to take back souvenir bottles Wink

- Take a trip up to Loch Lomond. You can get the train to Balloch and then go wandering. It's about an hour from Glasgow. If you want to go further afield, driving or getting the train through Glencoe is worth it.

- There's a cool vegan cafe/record shop called Mono in Glasgow. One of the dude's that works there is into metal so they usually have a decent selection of vinyl, interspersed with the hipster shit though.

- You aren't far from Loch Fyne where you can go to the Loch Fyne Ales brewery. I think they do tours.

- Loads of castles nearby, search Historic Scotland website for a few.
