Although I knew the band, it never happened to check out their music. I just heard to Winter and it's fucking great. Any other good suggestions on basically where to start with this band?

I'd recommend Monolith, as it's probably their best and most metal release. The earlier stuff is also great, but it's punky- thus lyrically shallow (preachy / irritating) at times.

Arise! or get the recent compilation LP released by Alternative tentacles with a bonus 7" that consist of their early recordings etc.

Yeah, I tend to listen to Arise! more than Monolith though both are very good.

No Sanctuary is also a good listen...a lot more primitive (ha) than the primitive stuff.

You should basically check out everything by them, there's not that many releases out there after all. I suppose Arise! is pretty good start, if you insist though.

I'd say Arise, definitely. I always thought Monolith was a bit boring. Great, but boring.

No Sanctuary and Winter EPs are the best.

For me it's vice versa - Arise! feels more metal and Monolith way softer. I dunno though, thinking "this is quite metal" is somewhat useless here. Arise is just way more reliant on that heavy crushing bass in the vein of Joy Division et cetera. I love that.

They don't exactly have a massive discography. Just get it all.

And it's all great (except for the Redux abomination) so get it all.

I was just listening to "Arise" yesterday. Killer album, though the first couple of songs are the worst in my opinion. But shit like "Drink and Be Merry," "Largactyl" and "Spoils of Victory" is incredible. Such a great atmosphere on this album, so bleak.

I'll jump on the Arise! train. It's their best album overall I think (not that any of them are bad). I also really like the No Sanctuary comp. that Alternative Tentacles did. Monolith is also a great release, but I'd start with Arise and the Comp before moving onto Monolith.
