Going to be down visiting a friend for a week at the end of the month, anywhere worth checking out in terms of finding decent records? Ideally good used selections or even new stock given the absurd shipping costs to Canada these days...

I've heard that place is completely wicked. Great music and it's the birthplace of Acid Bath so you can't lose.

Also, Z’otz is a pretty cool coffee shop

My friend was at that show! He saw them and dug their excellent showmanship.

I found an OG press copy of Morbid Tales for a bargain price at Skully'z earlier this year. Euclid was also cool.

Been there dozens of times but I always get too absorbed in food and booze to go shopping.

Get drinks at The Saint. Eat a sandwich at Guy's. One Eyed Jack's and Siberia have decent shows from time to time.

Pretty much the reason I went there in 2003. I left in the middle of a shift at work and drove there from Cleveland. I mostly hung out in the French quarter like a typical NOLA tourist.

New Orleans rules......happened to catch Master at Siberia, very cool venue. Didn't have much luck in the record stores though.

Nice place, very seedy. Got lots of compliments for my Electric Wizard shirt, especially from bums on the street.

Agreed that Euclid Records on Chartres St is probably going to be your best bet if you're hanging around the Quarter. Really love Skully'z but it's pretty small and feels pretty picked over most of the time. Both are typically priced. The White Roach and Peaches both on Magazine St have some ok stuff from time to time. Check out Mushroom only if you're over by Tulane. Typical headshop/record store fare.

Haven't been there in over a decade, but kvlting at cemetaries/ ghost tours/ weird voodoo shops was more memorable then the heavy metal hunting.

I live here. Euclid and Skullyz as mentioned are good. Sisters in Christ moved to Magazine Street. Same for Peaches.

Siberia, Poor Boys, Saturn Bar, occasionally OneEyedJacks has shows. GasaGasa is getting some decent shows these days.

My favorite place though was under the bridge connecting the Upper and Lower 9th Ward. Killer shows. Too bad some jackass parked his car on the tracks and got hit by a train. That ended that.

The French Quarter is fun but way overpriced and frat boys everywhere. Completely run over by idiots on the weekends.

Everywhere but the Quarter is good and plenty to do

A great city to have fun ... just hang out at the French Quarter!
Went there for a conference and coincidentally saw Cannibal Corpse at the House Of Blues on Decatur Street.
Then nursed a hangover with Beignets and coffee the next day at Café DuMonde ... aahh good times Very Happy
