I know there's probably a couple threads discussing the old classics or hidden gems but what are some of good newer acts?

I usually don't like newer punk music, as it's typically so predictable.

That being said, being a fan of Devo, I recently (I know, late pass) listened to the Coneheads. Young dudes from the midwest who do a great job of making something unique using that classic early Devo style. I know when this record came out a lot of your usual hip blogs/sites (pitchfork, vice, etc) gave them a lot of coverage, which only deterred me even further from giving this a chance at the time.

But now it's safe to say they put out a great set of demos/

https://wearescum.bandcamp.com/releases - I jammed this last night and it blew me away. So much funk and verve and anger and just nihilistic rage. I loved it.

Contemporary hardcore/punk is odd. On one hand you have stake and embarrassing shit that seems to come out of a sjw echo chamber, which people praise with "______ is killing it!!!"; on the other hand, you have some great hardcore/punk going right now - Cadaver Dog, Civilized, Total Abuse, Green Beret, Blood Pressure, Arm's Race, Rixe, Crown Court, Anasazi, La Misma, Zoloa, Forced Order, and some others.

My friend played their tape in the car and it sounded pretty good. Looking forward to checking them out when I see them in a month. A live setting is the proper way to evaluate a band. I do really like their related band Hounds of Hate, great stuff.

Aye, no idea why I left these local heavyweights out of the OP. Their most recent "Excluded" is great! Twisted Evil

I'm definitely into it. Way into the Pantera influence
