The best of 2013 is still easily WARLORD- The Holy Empire! What a masterpiece!

Piece of christian crap.
What a stupid and narrow-way minded comment. My "3rd" best album might be Hell - Curse & Chapter and off black metal releases I really was digging Thy Kingdom Cum by Profanatica... anyhow I choose WARLORD simply because the music is not fast food and that album is truely a grower. One should definitelly forget stuff like what is personal belief / lyrical themes behind any (metal) band, if it's still dedicated and musically inspired stuff.. I mean I could't listen to Sabbath nor Vitus either, if I'd think like altblood... Warlord is NOT preaching.. like some Stryper. Read the fucking lyrics before you judge them. And somebody already agreed with me about The Holy Empire, just above.. so cheers to him! edit: oh yeah the Drowned reh.demo was truely a blast as well! Voivod - Target Earth is their best album in more than 15 years...

Stop whining christian boy. The Earth is round, there is no god and this album is a piece of christian crap. These are simple facts of life.

I must the Necrowretch album has matured EXCEPTIONALLY well. I'd even go as far as saying it might be favorite album of 2013.

At first I wasn't completely sold on it, but that's very different now. Pretty much llisten to it on a daily basis.

Ok, I'm probably forgetting some stuff which I really liked, but I'm really bad at remembering what has been released this or that year, since I'm also always behind on releases I still want to get. So part of this list is based on what I read in this topic.

Sulphur Aeon - Swallowed by the Ocean's Tide
Beyond - Fatal Power of Death
Ogdru Jahad - I
Grave Miasma - Odori Sepulcrorum
B÷lzer - Aura
Pain Nail - Magneettinen Kohtalo
The Vomit Arsonist - An Occasion for Death
Satan - Life Sentence
Demonomancy - Throne Of Demonic Proselytism
Prosanctus Inferi - Noctambulous Jaws Within Sempiternal Night
Cauchemar - Tenebrario
Acherontas - Amenti
Trepanation - Hideous Black Abyss
Bones - demo (Belgian Death Metal band)
Nyodene D - Atop Masada
Satanachist - Crown of the Black Sun & split with Spear of Longinus
Pentacle/Mortem 7"
Nexul - Nexulzifer 7"
Necroblood - Second Blood 7"

Krypts - Unending Degradation
Steel Hook Prostheses - The Empirics Guild

Haven't heard the latest Summoning, Inquistion, Necrowretch yet and have heard but still have to get Mammoth Grinder, Lycus, Hatred Surge. And I'm pretty certain the new Cult of Fire album will end up in this list as well.

Ok, add to the above list:
Cult of Fire - मृत्यु का तापसी अनुध्यान LP
Veneror - Percussimus Foedus Cum Morte LP
Lycus - Tempest LP
Secret Apex tape

And by now I've got the Mammoth Grinder album which is pretty good too, but maybe just not good enough to end up in this list. Same goes for a number of other albums such as Creamface - Cum On Clothes (best lyrics for 2013 definitely are for Dip for Snacks), Clandestine Blaze - Harmony of Struggle, She'ol - Sepulchral Ruins Below The Temple and some other stuff which I'm most probably forgetting right now.

Out of what I have heard this year, these are the five that I have probably enjoyed the most:

In Solitude - Sister

Prosanctus Inferi - Noctambulus Jaws

Bolzer - Aura

Grave Miasma - Odori Sepulcrorum

Craven Idol - Towards Eschaton

Was Sulphur Aeon released this year? Excellent debut fullength from a promising band. Artwork, lyrics, music, everything blends together perfectly.
Definitely one of the best DM bands in recent years.

My 2 most played records this year are;

Inquisition:Obscure Verses for the Multiverse

Catchy well worked out songs, nice production and vocals. I know that most here seem to prefer Ominous but i was really relieved with this latest work,as i am not a fan of the clinical sounding (but still good!) Macrocosm.

Stahlgewitter:Das Hohelied der Herkunft

A german nationalist band. Their lyrics mean more to me than what most metal bands sing about. It's not brutal or black or death, but the band has a sound and vocal/music style of their own. Love it.

Ghost:Infestissumam

Not a great album....however there are 4-5 outstanding tracks on it. Easylistening music that got a lot of airplay by moi.

To make a bigger selection i'd need to get all my 2013 albums i purchased together.

Grave Miasma is quite good. The german Beyond is brutal. Zemial is somewhat of a grower after several listenings. Hails to the Hellenic oldschool.

That Newsted song I heard was pretty good. I dunno if it would make my year end list but I'm happy he's happy doing what he's doing....

I'm kind of surprised by the lack of Peste Noire in people's end lists. It was probably the album of the year for me. Anyways here's my list in no particular order:

Cosmic Church-Ylistys
Aerial Ruin/Stevie Floyd
