I guess I am out of touch... someone played Fastkill and Cross Examination for me the other night and I was crushed to the ground fucking wow.

Fastkill was great, screechy vocals and nonstop brutal drumming in the style of early Demolition Hammer. Cross Ex. was a bit more punky but with similar high-speed thrash/hc riffs. Neither band is really about the riffs though, it's just the energy of it all.

Japan has some of the best bands going right now, adding Hellhound and Terror Squad to the conversation... what else am I missing?

Hellhound was pretty good live. I didn't like Terrorsquad at all. They sounded more like a hardcore band.

You might say the same about Fastkill. No idea how they are live though. Probably fast!

Havent heard the new fastkill album, but the first one was a total reign in blood worship on speed.

Oh, and Cross Examination are from St. Louis apparently. Nevertheless a room full of drunks recently agreed they were from Japan.

The first Fastkill album was quite a rush. I havn't heard the new one yet.
I don't think the logo fits them too well. But that's just me.

Dunno how strictly Japanese they are but Ritual Carnage 'The Highest Law' is a contemporary thrash masterpiece in my opinion.

Yeah. Too bad the follow-up didn't deliver. Curious if King's-Evil will be able to match their debut...

King's Evil was not my thing at all.

I'll stick to Casbah, old United, Zadkiel, first Jurassic Jade, and other 80's stuff.

Terror squad are my ultimate favourites out of the current thrash bands. Fastkill are pretty decent too but not as interesting as Terror Squad. Oh well, TS are in their own league in the first place I think, interesting to see how far will they go next time. Tech-prog-rock-classic-punk speed metal.

I didn't liked the The Birth Of A New Rage demo. It had a strong Metallica vibe to me.

Terror Squad song on V/A Far East Gate Inferno CD was good deathly thrash. I wish they had kept that style instead of moving towards hardcore influenced techno thrash. It's mainly the vocals that kills it for me.

I'd be interested in hearing those, haven't heard any of the demos (save the sample on their website) nor the compilation cd track.
