This Friday, October 18th at 1pm EDT, the FDR vinyl of Morbid Angel's classic album, "Covenant", will be available to pre-order on our webstore. Made with the full support of the band who will begin their 20th Anniversary Covenant tour in the US next month, the album has been specially remastered from the original tapes in Full Dynamic Range (FDR) audio, allowing the music's nuances to shine through and giving the album a more ferocious, immersive and dynamic sound than ever before.

As an additional bonus, all colored vinyl available through our webstore will come with a free Morbid Angel slipmat and sticker. By now you know how fast these limited vinyls sell out, and this one could be the fastest one yet! The most limited color vinyl will again be limited to ONE PER CUSTOMER.

Last week saw an overwhelming response to the release of the final FDR vinyl of the Earache Carcass collection,"Swansong". The most limited color sold out in just a few minutes again, and we are already down to less than 30 of the "Celestial Furnace" splatter vinyl, limited to 200 copies.

Additionally, we only have a handful of colored vinyl left of "Reek Of Putrefaction", so make sure you get your order in quickly if you'd like one of those. All colors of "Heartwork" have completely sold out too. With only a few copies left of the black vinyl, it won't be long before it joins"Necroticism" and "Symphonies Of Sickness", both of which are long sold out!

Finally, we have less than 5 colored vinyl left for Bolt Thrower's "Warmaster"! The vinyl itself comes in a deluxe gatefold sleeve, and includes an 8 page lyric booklet, just like the original release. Considering how quickly these vinyl are still selling, this vinyl will not be available on our webstore for much longer! "Realm Of Chaos" and "The IVth Crusade" have already completely sold out and will not be repressed, so if you don't already own one of these, you need to order quickly.

"It's a buy buy buy, win win win situation!" These corporate heavy metal blurbs are fucking pathetic.

I understand your point and I agree. But I also look at it from a label's perspective. They want to sell as many albums as they can and make lots of money. The majority of the buyers know exactly what is going on and yet they decide to spend their money. All the power to Earache for jumping on the band wagon. Other labels have been doing this for a long time.

As greasy and off-putting as the marketing may be, the opportunity to get classics on vinyl is always a good thing. The major exception is when there's some kind of predatory mark-up involved.

Pretty much the only way to look at it. No matter how you slice the dice, they just pressed nearly 3,000 copies of a 20 year old LP which speaks volumes to staying power of (too) extreme(!) metal classics.

Yup. I agree. I don't have Covenant on vinyl, and it's one of my favorite albums so I'll definitely pick this up.

Same here. The reissue from a year or so ago sounded like crap...so I'll just go on a gamble and purchase this version. The FDR reissues from Bolt Thrower, Carcass, Entombed...etc...sound damn good so I have hope.

Fucker was already reissued less than 2 years ago with A, B and D...

And then all 4 were sold in a kinda super limited box...

Milking the cow till it becomes Ethiopian...

I have the Earache reissue and I wont go for the FDR thing, don't think it's worth it...

I plan on buying this re-issue. If the sound is better then I can sell or trade the re-issue from 2 years ago. It's a win-win situation.

It's better to see the label and band making the cash than the Ebay seller.
Why not have classics avaiable?

At this point, my hope is that as much classic underground material is made available as possible.

The reason for this is that in order to survive, it must cultivate new fans. They should be able to get their hands on the classics and oddities without having to resort to eBay or other time-intensive high-priced avenues.

Ideally, underground metal would be priced like entry-level classical to encourage new fans to build up a collection.

I realize that much of the underground's current participants think it would do best to stay obscure, but (1) obscurity is no longer viable with the death of the major label distribution model and (2) obscurity effectively suffocates the music from new fans.

This is a great opportunity to get the original pressing so I don't understand all the bitching. Buy the re-issue (I'm sure the most limited color will be sold out within a couple of minutes but you can get the one that's limited to 200 or 300 copies), wait a couple of months and flip it on eBay. Now you have enough money to buy the original on eBay and probably still have some money left.
