Got that already but - is it like the Floppy itself just makes noise or does the disc actually contain files you play via any player or whatever?

or more like this?

How do you play them anyway?

Well if you're like me, you may still have one of these around...

Nowadays there are USB floppy drives/emulators too, but I've never even seen one.

Seems like the right format for this guy's music.

Well, that label is pretty notorious for putting out the worst shit imaginable so this is not really a surprise.

As I already said elsewhere: Nomen est omen.

Just look at those linked bandnames too, not a single good one.

Oh those Noise/PE retards on the Maniac's only forum actually found a place to make this? I thought they were only fucking around. I must release my debut noise album on betamax to kvlt then.

I released a band from the Ukraine where one of the tracks was actually ripped from a reel to reel tape machine that I think predated 8 track and it wasn't recorded for hipster cred it was literally all they had there.

People don't have the mental capacity to understand that music is about music.

Some people still use reel-to-reel. One of my old bands recorded on one of these oldschool reel-to-reel tape players a few years ago. The guy who recorded managed to ruin one song on it (so we couldn't use it in the end), and there's a very noticeable skip on another one. Never again.

The only reel to reel tape machine I have ever seen in America was at an Antique store for like $2000 bucks or something. I was completely oblivious to the concept of it being used as a record method anymore.

Of course whatever it takes I guess.

Are you serious? There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with using reel to reel as a recording medium. Its not a stupid gimmick like recording to wax cylinder or an example of poverty.

On the subject of diskettes, some guy was trying to sell me a huge 32 channel Tascam console that had automation on it, you know "flying faders" and whatever. The automation data was stored on 3.5"disks. You would store the data on the disk, and whenever you ended up doing your final mixdown you would just pop the disk in and all your fades and whatever would boogie along automatically, synced to your reel to reel's timecode.
Too bad the thing sounded like buzzy, leaky shit. I did the math as to how much it would cost me in materials and time to get even half of those channels to sound good and promptly considered suicide as a better alternative.

Half the problem with demo tapes today is that they are not reel to reel. I can sense the disturbance in the audio quality via my innate black metal antenna sense of truism.

There is a local band here in Seattle that had their last recording pressed onto recycled laser discs! I always felt PORTAL should release a vinyl pressing that has to be played at either 16rpm or 78rpm myself.
