Half the problem with demo tapes today is that they are not reel to reel. I can sense the disturbance in the audio quality via my innate black metal antenna sense of truism.

For the price of a half decent multitrack r2r and tapes (not including all the other shit you need) you can easily buy a good pc and digital/analog interface.

Exactly, hence the availability of bands these days is incredible compared to 5, 10, 15, 20 years ago. Laughing
Everyone can have a demo tape/cd-r, even the myspace bands if they wanted to.

I honestly cannot decipher any difference in recording method. To me I assume the sound I hear from my speakers is what the band wanted, mixed with ability or time period of release. Hence everything modern and considered polished always under fire here... or veterans changing from being a raw band 20yrs ago to sound perfect today (Emperor or something for example)
Meh... lots of bands, to each their own.
These weird noise bands trying to purposely release a format not widely used reeks of gimmick, but chances are (my opinion) such bands are not worth hearing anyways, random recorded noise just being absurd and annoying noise is not exactly music I would call music I care to hear anyways. Laughing

You would be able to tell if you knew what you were listening for. Compare "Unchain the Wolves" to "Phoenix Rising", and you'll get the idea. Obviously listening on a proper fullrange stereo is important. Not saying you dont have one of those, but adding the caveat that obviously an ipod is not a refrence system.

Also, the format you release in is something different from the format(s) you record with to actually create the sound.

Two years max before this is the shit here in Baltimore. Artschool fuckos in this town fetishize stuff that sucks. Most of them are currently balls deep into VHS revival for movies and the whole audio cassette thing will run its course pretty soon. Floppies suck even harder, so it just makes a stupid, predictable sort of sense.

When comes concert videos on CED?

Floppy is 1,44MB, you can write on this about 1 minute track in cheap mp3 quality... or a lot of midi Smile

Yeah, I was wondering what is the file format they use in these floppy disc releases? There´s "fuck mp3" everywhere in the site, so that shouldn´t be it! Very short wav or midi then?

Surely can't be in wav format - you'd literally only have like 5 seconds of sound at 44100kHz.

Playing "noise" myself, what a fucking shitty format. Pure obscuritanism for the sake of it. At least they don't glow in the dark or something like that.

Next up - musical notation able to be played via something like Sibelius or Musescore. Lame. The noise scene has some fucking terrible ideas, some even worse than the BM scene, but this takes the prize for being a laugh out loud joke.

I'm pretty sure most pet stores sell bull's dicks for your dogs to munch on. I don't think that's gayer than this though.

I was just joking about this the other day that the next retro format will be floppy discs.. seems as though I spoke too soon.
Seriously how the fuck would you play this? I haven't had a disk drive for years and I remeber you could only fit about one song on them anyhow. We used to call those hard discs as I remeber floppy disks looking like this below (the thin large ones that are actually floppy) and taking about 11 minutes too boot up..

Anyhow only tapes are real..
