Exodus 'bonded by blood'
Sepultura 'beneath the remains' and 'arise'
Sadus 'illusions (chemical exposure)'
Sadus 'persecution mania' and 'agent orange'
Kreator 'endless pain' and 'extreme aggression'
Testament 'the legacy'
Sacrifice 'forward to termination'
Demolition Hammer 'tortured existence'
Overkill - everything up to 'horrorscope'
Metallica 'kill'em all' and 'ride the lightening'
Bathory - everything up to 'Blood Fire Death'
Slayer 'show no mercy'

Just the top of my head the albums to which I banged my head to as a teenager. Someone already mentioned Running Wild, Kat, Razor and Heathen. And yes I mentioned some Thrash so no need to point it out.

For some reason, this album had quite an impact when I first got it in my teens. Total fucking rager.

I never understood the name Speed Metal. Thrash was generally faster.

In my book, the difference between speed and thrash is like:

SPEED METAL - it's just sped up heavy metal (Running Wild, Agent Steel, Satan, Oz etc.)
THRASH - it's sped up heavy metal too, but with simpler and rawer approach, sometimes punk influenced as well (Sodom, Kreator, Slayer etc.)

Also Power Metal...if it so powerful why does it often sound so feminine?

It's power metal, not "tough metal" Laughing
I guess the name is because it's grand, epic and catchy metal...

Fistful of Metal / Armed and Dangerous. I like everything that Anthrax did up to Persistence of Time, but I can't help but fantasize about what they would have done of Neil Turbin stayed in the band for another couple of years.

Heavy Metal Maniac is a ripper....Violence and Force also deserves a mention too though.

Co-signed, but I'd put Burn to My Touch as their best record.

Vampyr - Cry Out For Metal is heavily underrated.

The first Helloween and Blind Guardian records are definitely worth investigating too.

My faves have to be Exciter - any of the first three albums, Helloween - s/t mlp, Original Sin - Sin will find you out (among the very elite speed metal albums in my books!), Anthrax - Fistful of Metal, Running Wild - Gates..., classic Agent Steel, Holy Terror, Hallow´s Eve, Savage Grace, Liege Lord... yes these all were already mentioned and yeah, you guys are on the right track here! Some greats I didn´t see mentioned here include Pariah (UK), Blood Money (UK) and Hades (US), total headbanging madness for me!
