with so many great old school bands coming out of Scandinavia, it's mainly swedish and norwegian bands that come up on my radar.

I'm a swede myself and the only finn band I ever paid attention to was Beherit.

so, are there any newish finn bands in the vein of Obliteration, Repugnant, Vampire, Nekromantheon, Degial etc?

actually come to think of it, the same question goes out to danish bands as well.

of course undergang if you don't know them yet. very rotten death metal. they're also touring right now.
if you want to check them out, I think their debut album is a bit better than their follow-up.

Vorum's album Poisoned Void and Obscure Burial's demo God's Abomination should be exactly what you are looking for.

oh yeah undergang is great.

krypts was a bit too chaotic for my taste... I like it riffy!

I'll check out all recommendations anyway.

Vorum is great!

not a huge fan of the war metal mushy reverb chaos that seems to be the trend now.

The bands everyone else mentioned, plus Desolate Shrine. There are so many great bands coming out of Finland now. Also, they aren't current, but Rippikoulu were great.

Obscure Burial, Krypts (how are they chaotic? lol) and Lantern! Already been listed but still...

Desecresy, Corpsessed, Swallowed, Desolate Shrine, Maveth, Gorephilia, Stench of Decay, etc.
Finns do it best! Also a lot of these aren't even really "old school" or "retro" (Desolate Shrine, Maveth, Swallowed EP) which is even better, I prefer bands trying to do their own sound.
