Perhaps maybe Encoffination or the Swallowed ep

I was thinking of those two bands as well. Not that they sound alike, but all 3 bands conjure up the same feelings of darkness, suffocation, claustrophobia, etc. The aural equivalent of being buried alive.

i think you both have ear cancer or something.

Please elaborate your sarcasm cos I dont see what's wrong with that statement.
GU is way murkier, like MUD BOWELS, but indeed they all have that slow as fuck downtuned as hell sufficating approach.
They have a lot of sludge/Funeral Doom in them.

Also GU reminds me a wee bit of NEKROKAOS previous album

im surprised i have to explain this because i think the distinctions would be readily apparent to most of the people on this board. the three bands have almost nothing in common. swallowed is third tier autopsy-style death metal. encoffination is fourth tier incantation-style death metal. neither of those bands is doing anything remotely original (although i did like the swallowed demo a lot) and grave upheaval doesnt sound like either of those in terms of songwriting or production.

also, i have not heard nekrokaos, but from checking out their M-A page, it seems they have a similar song-titling strategy as GU.

Quite obviously you havent listened to SWALLOWED´s outstanding 7" which is nothing like the first 2 demo tapes (which are indeed Autopsy worship)
The EP is darker and slower and doomier. Krvshing
Hence "THE Swallowed EP" in the quote
So there.

Nekrokaos is more sewer than cavern but the bulging throbbing filth is akin

i guess youre right that the swallowed ep is different (and very good, too), but i still dont think it sounds like grave upheaval. anyway, i am more shocked at the encoffination comparison which i assume was mostly just because they share a split lp.

Sometimes it helps to read before spewing mindless internet sarcasm. I distinctly said:

"Not that they sound alike, but all 3 bands conjure up the same feelings of darkness, suffocation, claustrophobia, etc."

It's about the atmosphere and the feelings they invoke, not the style of music. If you disagree, that's fine...but to me there is a definite connection in the vibe I get from those bands.

So you can just lump three disparate bands together simply because you select three of the most generic words commonly used to describe so called "extreme" metal and throw them together in a sentence? and that is supposed to make your hyperbolic statement seem meaningful when, in fact, you have said nothing of substance whatsoever?

Whatever, chief, enjoy being a know-it-all internet tough guy. I'll just enjoy the music. Rolling Eyes

Spun the GU LPs for the first time last night...this album is immense and should be played as loud as possible. The noise floor on this album is absolutely ridiculous, definitely one of the most intense albums I've heard in the past few years as far as "the rumble" is concerned. Oh yeah, the actual music is awesome too.

Will Iron Bonehead (or any other european distro), have the brown/red vinyl wholesale edition for sale ?
