Haha!

The Set album is a beast! It sounds like a bit more deathy version of Joined in Darkness.

The Grave Upheaval DLP sounds unearthly. I am quite mesmerized by this album. Also, top-notch job on the artwork and design. Exquisite release overall.

Well said and I completely agree. Listened to it last night and it is absolutely hypnotic...the "cavernous" tag on the sticker is really a perfect description for the sound. Dark, moldy and evil.

And based on the comments so far, I'm assuming no one else knows what "GK' means either! Wink

I am prowling around like a crazed ape waiting for this to arrive, and then falling to my knees....

I received the Grave Upheaval record yesterday. The write-up on page one of this thread is dead on. This record really doesn't sound like any other band I can think of, unless somebody could recommend something similar that I'm not familiar with. Structurally it seems to have more in common with ambient music than most DM. There is nothing comforting about this album, down to the spacious artwork that contains absolutely no text. This is some seriously inhuman and unfriendly sounding shit. If that's what they were trying to achieve (which I suspect it is), they fucking nailed it. I listened to the first lp several times, I will dive into the second one tonight. The box is cool too.

Perhaps maybe Encoffination or the Swallowed ep. It's probably closer to sludgy death/doom

I was thinking of those two bands as well. Not that they sound alike, but all 3 bands conjure up the same feelings of darkness, suffocation, claustrophobia, etc. The aural equivalent of being buried alive.

Please elaborate your sarcasm cos I dont see what's wrong with that statement.
GU is way murkier, like MUD BOWELS, but indeed they all have that slow as fuck downtuned as hell sufficating approach.
They have a lot of sludge/Funeral Doom in them.

Also GU reminds me a wee bit of NEKROKAOS previous album
