So, I love Death SS, especially In Death of Steve Sylvester, but whence did the gayness set in and this band go downhill? I Also love The Cursed Concert 92, that is deadly! I love the old school sound of this band and the horror atmosphere!

I pretty much only listen to the pre-album stuff, and first two albums. Don't really like anything that came after all that much.

The Story Of Death SS is the best.
But it isn't really an album.
So i'm going to go with the debut.

They turned really shit on Heavy Demons. The ultimate release is that 'Horned God of The Witches' double LP, it's even better than 'The Story of Death SS'.

Never liked them alot.
But their early stuff rereleased on HorrorMusic DLP
is good stuff for me.
The Night Of The Witch , etc..

besides that too much show, theatrical moments for my taste.

One of my absolute favourite bands. Everything that Paul Chain made is essential.

I voted for "Heavy Demons". I love the riffs and the atmosphere on that album. But the first 4 albums are essential releases.

The old stuff with Paul Chain is the best of course but I love everything up until and including Do What Thou Wilt (apart from that horrible, horrible Crowley's Law track).

The old logo is just begging to be made into a shaped back patch, I'm actually surprised that no one has done it yet.

Has anyone heard their latest album ? I've read good things about it.

Used to listen to them a lot but can't say it seems to have held up that well overtime. I usually can never make it through Heavy Demons. My vote would probably go to Black Mass over the debut.

The 7" box set, that came out years ago. Amazing stuff. So fucking disappointed that I didn't purchase it for the measly 15USD at the time.

Black Mass is the obvious peak of the post-Paul Chain production in terms of both song-writing and musicianship. In Death.. was still an experiment at that point -'88 that was- and several songs are consistently weaker and sound rushed.
