I'm not familiar with much else besides Blood and Fleshcrawl's Descend Into the Absurd which I like because it reminds me a little bit of Dismember.

What else?

agree

on the more melodic side of things - this album is remarkably like Dismember's Massive Killing Capacity - December Flower - When All Life Ends . I think they have a new album coming out this year.

there's also Lay Down Rotten. Here's a track from their most recent album, Deathspell Catharsis

(old) Morgoth
Hatework - only one album and that's it but I really like it. "No Bloodsoil For Oil" is the title.

Should have titled it Older Death German Death metal.

Excoriate and Beyond definitely rule...I'm not as familiar as the others...thanks!

well the bands I linked are still old school styled death metal, so they're probably worth checking out for you.

I remember posting in a thread like this some time ago, and found it:

http://www.nwnprod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28406&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=16

If you don't want to read it all, the kings of the scene were Atrocity, Fleshcrawl, Morgoth, Torchure, etc

Jumpin Jesus-The Art of Crucifying
Immortalis-Indicium De mortuis
I believe these 2 are from Germany if I remember right.

Dormant Misery

Sometimes their "The World Beyond" demo pops up, worth getting, classic Death Metal with a North American edge.
Their full length "The Reawakening" was never properly released which is a shame as it rules. Maybe you can find some mp3 as the material was shared after the main man`s passing (rip).

Does Poison count?
More Death/Thrash, but great stuff.
Early Atrocity is good
Maybe early Crematory.

Nah, forget about Crematory, mediocre from the start and getting cheesier with every release. Wink

Dark Millennium demos (only know the second) and debut are good as well.
