I loved Arcana Dei and LOVE Ylistys but didn't care much for Absoluutin. Maybe I wasn't in the right mind set when I was listening to it or didn't give it enough of a chance. Perhaps I should go back and check it out

I was told by the label that it would be out soon... that was a while ago, I'll have to check back.

The band approved test presses in the spring.

Yeah I didn't see anything on ebay when I checked, and the only US seller on discogs wants $50 for a used copy, which I'm not going to do

The vinyl version of Ylistys is now sold out. The CD contains the same material and is still available.

Could be the best black metal album of 2013 for me (yet to hear Feral Wisdom). But the musicianship in Ylistys is fucking superb. Has that classic black metal vibe all over it, imo.

Meh, I enjoyed the CC/Coo split much better than this.

A second vinyl pressing of Ylistys will come in 2014 so, unless you really really want to, don't overspend on a copy at ebay / discogs / where ever.

Cult of Fire's मृत्यु का तापसी अनुध्यान (which means something most black metal dudes - including Cult of Fire - haven't any clue about, ironically) is so heavy handedly "Hinduizm iz kvlt"/occult and sounds like post metal running to the other side of where Deafhaven, Bosse De Nage, etc. are standing, that they leave little the imagination by way of Miley Cyrus'ing and flashing their occult muscles.

By comparison, Cosmic Church's more subtle and x-files ambiguity is way more compelling and interesting and compliments their sound. Really well crafted but traditional and also unpredictable. In spite of not totally digging the vocals (not a Burzum fan, really), I keep revisiting this because there's something tucked away in each song that is revealed upon repeated listens. Arcana Dei-II is also cool for that reason. The only thing that is truly black is space!

Vocals totally ruin this album for me. I find them obnoxious and distracting. If they were buried in the mix more, or simply not as frequent I could get past them but they are pretty much non stop and loud as hell. Monotonous, could really use some variation.
