Shocked

Probably won't buy it since the demos are all I really need, but I'm interested to see the final product

yeah, they are a little too late for many fans. I love the demos and glad to have a good copy of them on the "Crawling to the Pentagram" LP, besides another bootleg I got, the "Severe Abominations" CD.

I will guess Tiamat fans that didn't know where to buy the bootlegs, or the diehard fans that want & buy anything and everything, will make it worth the effort by Century Media.

Or people who don't buy bootlegs.

Perhaps the decision to release this was made so people would stop buying the bootlegs. Just like the Morbid box set.

The demos, EP and rehearsal tracks would have been enough for me at least. Not really interested in all the live stuff. Will most likely grab the 3CD set as the LP box will most likely cost a fortune.

Sigh.

On the one hand, I'll certainly buy this because I like supporting official releases over boots whenever possible.

On the other hand, this is bonus material overkill. I'm a fan of bonus tracks generally - a demo here, a couple live songs there. But once you're releasing a 3 CD set from a band whose official recorded output will comfortably fit on one disc, you're just overdoing it. Shitty-sounding rehearsals, shittier-sounding live songs, and instrumental tracks from a Tiamat album (that have very little to do with Treblinka's demos)? It's just pointless and overstuffed, a bunch of things I'll never listen to more than once, if that. Just like the Morbid set, it's too much gilding the lily, and the gilding isn't even good quality gilding.

Silly. A band with about 10 songs doesn't need a 5lp set.

Who wants to listen to the same tracks over, and over, and over, and over, and over?

(That's all five flips)

CD set will be more than enough for me. Good to have these officially after the two shitty bootleg LP's.

I looked at the thread title and thought, "that 5 has to be a typo". I really wish they would've made a single lp option or something, looks like I'll be ignoring this like I did with that Morbid set.

Yeah, I almost spit out my beer when I saw 5 LP's. Unnecessary.

Gonna buy the 5LP set anyway. I can't complain too much when all I want to hear is sequenced perfectly in two LP's. Plus, I'm sure the packaging, layout and design will be killer. I really liked what they did with Morbid set.

agreed. except they do have sumerian cry instrumental demos.
besides that, i respect this band for their influence and being a part of the early swedish death metal scene but i find their riffs to be VERY immature.
