Had to realise that I just couldn't find my copy of Entombed's "Wolverine Blues" the other day, and so I bought another one 2nd hand, obviously a later repress of the album. I got pissed off immediately realising that the "Flatliners" and "Hellraiser" samples are removed one and all on the version I bought. When did this happen? Are the samples only included with the first press from 1993? Thank you!

You should have been more pissed off how absolutely awful Wolverine Blues is.

wow- never heard of that before! It's Earache though so nothing surprises me- if they can't be bothered to pay for Realm Of Chaos artwork, I doubt they're going to pay for any samples!

Only pressings from 1993 have the samples (I guess they are included also on the 1993 US version on Columbia). Earache even had this question answered under their FAQ section on their old website, saying that they removed the samples on their own just for legal reasons.

It´s also claimed that only the Japanese first press on Toy´s Factory has the original sound, because Earache already compressed the album for the 1993 UK pressing.

I never bothered to compare that and the original Earache pressing with samples is doing just fine for me.

Hahahaha! You got that all wrong. I'll even spend money for a third copy to get an unedited one again for hell's damn wide open sure. Now with the info Björn has provided, I'll probably try to lay my hands on the Toy's Factory press as I'm curious to know if there's a significant difference in the sound.

Says someone who still needs an introduction to King Diamond Rolling Eyes

Seriously, "Wolverine Blues" is nowhere close to "Left Hand Path" or "Clandestine" and it also marks Entombed´s departure into the shitty Death n´Roll style.
But still this album has some value for me due to the sheer aggressiveness of some of its songs.

Opinions differ, but for me "Wolverine Blues" is far from beeing complete shit.

I think they never released any vinyl.

And I doubt the difference is in any way audible...this guy here makes some interesting comparisons of different album versions:

http://www.dr.loudness-war.info/index.php?search_artist=entombed&search_album=blues

Also Discogs states a different sound to the Japanese pressing,
but it all seems to be about "compression".
So I´m not really sure if this results in a major difference which one can actually hear with a regular sound system.

It'd be better if the removed the music instead. Hate this album, hate "death 'n roll".
