One real gem in this genre people tend to not have heard (about) is Koreana, the group that composed and performed the leit-motif for the Olympic Games in Seoul 1988. Very pompous and heroic heavy metal transposed to electronic pop music. Make sure you check out the song "Victory". Gaaah, gives me the chills every listen. |

I think Beat is underrated, however, what does slightly work against it is having many rehashed ideas from Discipline where it is usually the motif of KC to never have the same style or lineup twice in a row. That aside there are still many great moments, the final song especially. Haven't checked out the latter and instead skipped ahead to Thrakk which is entirely another story... _________________ Malaria

Not heard Thrakk myself. Do check out 3OAPP sometime, it has maybe the craziest music of the three 80s records. Can't beat Tony Levin on the Chapman Stick!
Speaking of which, are there any Peter Gabriel fans? I am a massive fan personally, any one of the albums he released in the 80s are a good contender for best music of the decade imo for example:

There are times I think this is honestly the best song ever made. Unmatchable atmosphere. _________________

I still think XTC were the band of the 80s the fact they would influence the pixies etc (and they are from my hometown of swindon), Also jack dangers of meat beat manifesto was a member of xtc for a while

ROD MOTHERFUCKING STEWART!
Christian Death
Genesis
Kate Bush
Jimmy Somerville
Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry
Toto (were they 80´s?)
Good call on that French weird crazy pop gem Les Rita Mitsouko!
But the bestest ovemall are THE CURE. The trilogy is late 70´s-early 80´s but it's fantastic. _________________ DISJECTA MEMBRAE plays Torture Doom
