I've lately been tormenting myself with the noise of The Birthday Party, The Bads Seeds (From Her To Eternity - Tender Prey), Bauhaus, Rozz Williams-era Christian Death, Joy Division, New Order's Movement, Fields of The Nephilim, Shub Niggurath, The Scream by Siouxsie & The Banshees, Sort Sol, Suicide, Univers Zero, Present, Klaus Schulze's Angst OST, Clock DVA, Portion Control, The Klinik and Skinny Puppy etc. I need more...

I'm primarily after recordings from that actual time. Bands miming the sounds of yesterday don't do much for me. Would have to be something really exceptional then...

Can't wait to check out upcoming recommendations in this thread.
This site has a lot of post punk;
http://thethingonthedoorstep.be/blog/?s=post+punk++
dark synth;
http://thethingonthedoorstep.be/blog/?s=dark+synth
and industrial and other stuff from the 80s.
Can't really give recommendations though, cause most of the stuff on the site is still unknown to me.
The download place (ADrive) is great, no waiting.

The pinnacle.

Such a powerful album, I rarely listen to them these days but they were a hell of a band, no doubt. The other 2 of their classic trio are equally amazing.
