I don't think Joel really cares about re-inventing the thrash wheel or even creating something new and innovative. I would say touring and playing a million gigs is more of a concern for Joel, and fair enough. I'm sure Relapse, while a totally shit label for years now, is able to fulfill all his touring goals.

Personally, the TH novelty wore off musically some time ago for me and I don't even bother checking out new stuff by them anymore. However if Joel is able to keep at it and avoid having some shit day job by playing derivative thrash, then I say congrats and more power to him.

I find it kind of lame that TH generally plays larger halls now on their tours. I predict a career of opening for much larger bands in big halls all over. I always thought TH ( and others of the same musical ilk) are much more powerful, shredding, effective and fun in small, sweaty tiny venues. Seeing TH at a 1200 person venue with a 6 foot gap between the stage and the crowd just seems to highlight how boring its become.

Well agree here... doubting that i am really going to buy new stuff, even to be honest doesnt own theirs old stuff, though it was pretty good(not my fav. band of course)... but i think it is ok if he can got some benefits from being on relapse and can tour.... though i think such band probably looks boring at bigger venues Laughing

the album has leaked and it's pretty good. it's like warripper not as fuzzed out. totally ten times better than hell on earth.

im buying this cause i like th alot.[and i have a th tattoo so what] i dont see how someone who was playing this shit before these la dudes did gets tacked with retro thrash. i think mostly to market it to the retro thrash sheep.

but one thing i do admit that is shitty that th did was drop off the overkill/warbringer tour to go on a tour with gwar and some other stupid band. i was really looking forward to that show. fucked up

I'd agree that it would be better to see Toxic Holocaust in a small venue rather than a large one. Also, with some of the tours that Toxic Holocaust ends up on, the crowd doesn't seem to show them much support. I remember going to see Toxic Holocaust in Birmingham when they were supporting for Municipal Waste (gay, I know), and there was hardly any reaction from the crowd. There was more of a reaction to the first support band (who were cheesy, crappy fun-thrash) than to Toxic Holocaust, which was quite sad as Toxic Holocaust were pretty good that night.

I still dig these guys, I pre-ordered the new album and am looking forward to getting it. I saw them on the At The Gates tour in a bigger venue and was still into it.

Now it's possible to listen to one more song, "Endless Armageddon". Some riffs are taken from Evil Never Dies, from "666" and some more I think. It really seems that TH is going nowhere...

someone said it above but I don't think he's trying to do anything ground breaking...just make some thrash. Some people just need to enjoy music for what it is!

It would be really stupid to expect Joel to create something groundbreaking or too much varied with TH, BUT it seems that he's just totally running out of ideas. Look at bands like Aura Noir or Nocturnal Breed - they also play similar blackaned thrash but their albums don't sound like 1 album released again and again.

Of corpse! Today I gave a listen to Evil Never Dies LP and it's still one of my favorite Thrash albums ever!

new songs sound awful .. flattest production I've ever heard .. and just fucking boring. rerecording War is Hell?? dumbest idea ever. sounds like he cranked this one out in a matter of hours.

that being said ... I did just see TH in Vancouver not long ago in a small venue at a crust punk festival and it KILLED! big tours and relapse records are the worst thing to happen to this band. oh well ..
