First announcement of confirmed bands for MDF 2014 has been made:

Quote:
The following bands have already confirmed for MDF XII:

AT THE GATES (Sweden)
GORGUTS (Canada)
TAAKE (Norway)
SOLSTAFIR (Iceland)
MGLA (Poland)
EXCRUCIATING TERROR
BONGRIPPER
HEMDALE
DIOCLETIAN (New Zealand)

We thought there would be more to announce today, including a band that will definitely headline one of the days, but that will take another week or two to finalize. Expect the next announcement in about 2 weeks.

Notes: At the Gates, Taake, Solstafir, and MGLA will be making exclusive US appearances at MDF.

We have a feeling many of you will ask what's going on with Carpathian Forest, so here's what's going on. We had preliminary discussion with them right after MDF XI and all parties understand what needs to be done for them to come to the US next year, but since our contact person for the band has been on vacation with no access to e-mail, we have to wait until he's back before confirming that officially. So, as of now, they are NOT confirmed, but chances are likely that they will confirm sometime soon.

Was not fussed to go last year at all, and this announcement already has me interested in going. MGLA and GORGUTS are great, great choices.

Diocletian was on my shortlist of bands I wanted to see get added; already very pleased with this first batch.

Good start. Excited for Diocletian and Mgla. This is the week before my wedding so I'm really aiming for a blow out.

i really hope they get tribulation and unanimated. Svartsyn would be even better but i doubt they'd want to come.

jerk off season begins in the US.

However im not disappointed with any of the bands announced. Carpathian Forest being worked out for this year as well is good news. I wasnt sure how they were going to handle it after last years problem with the visas, and the US will probably give Nattefrost a hard time no matter what if not due to criminal record, i expect something stupid like one of his solo albums being called "Terrorist" would get them in an uproar at customs.

CUrious who the big headliner announcement was supposed to be, i assumed an exclusive at the gates performance would already count as a headliner announcement, so must be something pretty big. (The King Diamond announcement everyones been begging for a long time now? Very Happy)

Thats a pretty good start. Whats up with Hemdale and Excruciating Terror playing shows again? Never thought I'd see that.

Yeah I saw Excruciating Terror once at a Fiesta Grande they were amazing. Definitely one of the best bands of that era, and cool that they're back playing live.

That was the first thing that came to my mind as well. No chance but if they announced MF instead I could die happy.

Got one of the earlybird tickets. Stoked on Mgła and Diocletian.

The discounted pass was still $199. If I remember correctly, I paid $215 for an all days, all venues pass for 2013. Looks like a bit of a price hike is happening this year, and more than a bit of one if they're not doing a two venue festival this time around.
