Mercyful Fate is GODLY but what does everyone think about his 'solo' stuff? I think it's just as classic! So many great songs!

Of course it is. Does it really need to be asked?

I do prefer MF but KD is great. Fatal Portrait is my favorite cause it was the first one I had but the first 5 KDs are essentials in my book. I like the 90s and 00 stuff too but it's a little weaker. Last album was kind of shitty but better then most stuff released these days

I like his solo stuff more than Fate. Like the lyrics more and Andy LaRocque is one of my favourite players.

Nothing wrong with it, I like them all too.
From the newer albums The Graveyard, Voodoo and The Puppet Master are my favorites. Eerie stories.

Can't await the new album!

I'm honestly not very much into King Diamond post - Mercyful Fate but I like his early works (up to The Spider's Lullabye)

Some stuff, it's not anything I listen to regularly. Seems to work better with LONG periods inbetween listening to these records.

The first five albums on Roadrunner are of course eternal classics and more or less perfect.

"The Spider's Lullabye" is also very great, but the conceptual part is clearly weaker.

"The Graveyard" has 2-3 good songs, but that's about it. Silly story too.

After that I didn't care anymore.

All his albums are good / worth getting imo, even 'Give Me Your Soul' though it does sound odd for a KD record. My fave's probably 'Them'

I'm pretty much alone on this one, but I don't think Them is the stone cold classic most people say it is. The production is dry as hell. Doesn't sound good after the ultra reverby heaven of Abigail; and the middle of the album really drags. It's book ended by some of his best songs, but Bye Bye Missy, A Broken Spell and the Accusation Chair just aren't up to par. Love the story though.

I usually go for Conspiracy instead when I listen to a KD album (granted my MF/KD collection is kind of lacking). It's a much more dynamic album, although still part of the same story.
