There's absolutely nothing wrong with "Them".

The production is great, the album flows perfectly and it's the most representative KD-album in various aspects, crowned by the BEST KD-artwork.

Plus "The Accusation Chair" is one of the creepiest songs ever.

I've been listening to pretty much nothing but Mercyful Fate first two albums the last few days. Easily some of the best Heavy Metal ever.

KD's pre-Fate Black Rose stuff is pretty cool too, well if you're into Blue Oyster Cult, Uriah Heep and such, that is.

King Diamond, do we even need to question whether it's one of the best heavy metal acts ever?

I saw him (well, the band) live just a couple of weeks ago and they rocked. His voice is better than what I saw in some lives of last year and all the theatrics and stuff... whew. On the album topic, I've always had The Eye take the spot, quickly followed by Conspiracy and Abigail. The second Abigail sucks major ass, but I think all the other albums are pretty good, or at least have their pros. Give Me Your Soul... Please is actually fucking good.

Never thought Them to be the best musically, but storywise it's parred with The Eye and Abigail.

I was never into KD.More ''progressive'' and complicated song structures for my ears, than the mighty Mercyful fate.
All hail Mercyful Fate!

It's quite the opposite for me, I prefer KD because of the overall atmosphere. I saw him at Hellfest by the way and his voice is in incredibly great shape, the only thing that didn't work so well was the open air fest thing. It seemed like a part of the magic was missing.

The first five albums on Roadrunner are of course eternal classics and more or less perfect.

"The Spider's Lullabye" is also very great, but the conceptual part is clearly weaker.

"The Graveyard" has 2-3 good songs, but that's about it. Silly story too.

After that I didn't care anymore.

Perfectly put. Nothing tops MF for me, but this statement pretty much sums it up for me as well.

I prefer MF by miles, but KD is good.

He's great live these days. Quitting the smokes has really helped and the performance is quite campy but cool at the same time.

This is the setlist they did when I saw them in Sweden earlier this summer:

The Candle
Welcome Home
At the Graves
Up from the Grave
Voodoo
Dreams
Sleepless Nights
Shapes of Black
Come to the Sabbath
Eye of the Witch

The Family Ghost
Evil
Black Horsemen

Some weird stuff in there for sure but seeing the King in top form do all those classics (with some backup support from his wife) was definitely one of the best concert experiences in a long time.

What's the deal with his wife being involved in everything now? Not a good sign in my opinion.

Saw him play live in Belgium a few weeks back and he performed the same setlist. Really theatrical show and a great performance. If i had to pick a favourite KD album it would be Abigail.

Being involved in everything?
King does not use the internet, so that is probably why you feel like she is "everywhere" when there are news posted and what not, but she really isn't. Livia is no new Sharon to say the least.
