i don't know man. it's just... i think your label is great and i just don't get it why you would want to release this. this is a joke band, they made several abnormaly bad albums, their image was always pure kitsch with no feel for any aesthetics and ultimately the guy went nuts and became some sort of a hard core christian as if it wasn't enough that the ex-female singer went total muslim. WTF?!?!
and that cover art shouldn't be even called art.
my 2 cents. sorry.

Hey, no worries, you are entitled to your opinions and I release what I like. The first Ancient albums have always been among my favorite albums, and with this new album they go back to that sound. It's pretty much stripped down black metal, melodic of course. Think Trolltaar and The Cainian Chronicle for example. I'm really excited about doing this one!

The Ancient logo as seen on the new cover was also released on the "Night Visit" album, which released in 2004, so it's not that new..

Ah i see! Stopped following them after Mad Grandiose Bloodfiends so i wasn't aware of the logo change (still i think the old one was perfect and i can't understand why they would change it)!
I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me but I also consider their early material flawless (Ep + Svartalvheim + Troltaar)
Good luck with the release!!!

They had a few good tracks pre-1997. Fucking useless garbage since.

'their image was always pure kitsch with no feel for any aesthetics'

Perfect statement.

What's not to like about "Eerily Howling Winds" demo, "Det Glemte Riket" EP, "Svartalvheim" and "Trolltaar"? I also think their "aesthetics" were just fine on these releases.
The re-edition of "Svartalvheim" sucks balls though.

And everything after "Trolltaar" was a pile of shit as well, both musically and visually.

On the other hand I think the "new" stripped down logo makes perfectly sense. The old one was a product of its time, so to say, but definitely would be kitsch nowadays.

As for the new release, it's hard to care about, mostly for the individuals involved (except that Bulldozer guy). I always had the impression Grimm was the main force behind the good aspects of Ancient.
