Cover looks great. Reminds me of Master Splinter. Cool

Simply excellent. This will be a very special work, and I hope it gains much positive recognition. We NEED zines like this. I am camped out, waiting in line for one.

A minor update in regards to what has already been said: at this point, I need to write one more article myself, and I am waiting for one other contribution, so after that I can finish the design throughout several sleepless nights, wherein I resist the temptations of social contact, football matches and Arma 3.

Also, there might be a few inconsistencies in the design seeing as my old PC kind of died last month, but it shouldn't be too noticeable.

Thanks. I already feel like the Steve Jobs of black metal. Cool

Another update:

As things are looking now, the magazine will appear this month. The zine will contain some 12 articles spread across more than 60 pages in A4 format (full colour). 70% of the content will be my own work; 30% contributions by other writers. 2 of the articles have already appeared on the website, but will have a revamped layout that makes them vastly superior to their online counterparts. Price (individual and wholesale) is yet to be determined.

Stay tuned.

Yesterday I had the first test print made of a part of the content, just to see how the design would translate to paper, and it translated well. This version is only 20 pages, and the final version, which I will have printed next week, will be 3 times that size. Still, it looks flashy and it gives you a good idea of the quality!

By the looks of it, I will have the actual stock printed somewhere next week, and I will start taking orders by the end of this month. The final price is not yet known but will probably be somewhere between 6 and 7 euros.

This will probably be the last update before the magazine release.

The following link contains info on the new magazine, including pricing, availability, text fragments and photographs.

Since publishing and selling out the magazine, I've been taking it easy and wrote a few articles on Black Ivory Tower's history, philosophy and future. I'll expand this section some more until I gather enough will to work on new magazine issues.

BIT Chronicles:
1 - History
2 - Philosophy
3 - Maddox

In the meanwhile, Lurker's Path will feature some of my more conventional writings on music.

In this Top 10 albums of 2014 article with a twist, the Sint takes no prisoners. And he may have been a bit drunk.

ANNOUNCEMENT / CONTRIBUTORS WANTED

In 2015, I will reboot the online branch of Black Ivory Tower by producing new content in a more regular fashion. Don't worry, the magazines will still keep coming, but inbetween rags I want to keep my dear readers up-to-date on new releases and obscure classics.

Naturally, a huge chunk of the writing will be done by yours truly. However, I want it to be more than just a personal blog where I bitch about things, so if you feel you have the pen and the passion required to write for Black Ivory Tower, by all means drop me a line at blackivorytower [AT] gmail [DOT] com

What I look for in a writer:
- Good command of English.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Capability of writing analytical reviews over basic track-by-track bullshit.
- Familiarity with Wordpress is preferred.
- Disposition to contribute on a fairly regular basis (say, 1-2 articles per month).

Note that the last requirement only applies when you wish to become an actual staff member. One-time contributions are also welcome. Experience with other music publications is not required.

Your compensation will be my eternal gratitude and wild, borderline zealous appreciation on behalf of our readers. Black Ivory Tower only costs me dinero, so I do not have any monetary profits to share.

If you think you're up for it, send an e-mail to the above address explaining why you would like to join and what you hope to contribute. I also encourage you to share this announcement with anyone who you think may be interested.

The website will be rebooted in 1 or 2 weeks. You can still sign up to contribute to the website.

Articles finished so far:
- Extensive, high-quality reviews of Sühnopfer, Knyazhaya Pustyn and more, so far amounting to more than 8000 words.
- Interview with Kamaedzitca (just a part of it will be posted on the website; the entire interview will be published in print).
- A large amount of 'blurbs' of 250-350 words on albums we're currently listening to (i.e. what others would call reviews). Three of these will be published every week.

Stuff we're working on:
- More interviews with some familiar faces (more to be announced later)
- A feature on White Medal
- New site FAQ
- Expansion of the Zine Compendium (click) we set up a while ago
- Setting up a YouTube account to upload high quality renditions of songs we talk about. You can already visit it and sign up here:

Have a nice Sunday.

Aaand we're back. Cóndor's first album Nadia is a sleeper hit among those who like to delve into musical theory. With the imminent release of follow-up Duin, I went back to Cóndor's debut to shed some more light on the work from a literary and aesthetic point of view. Shortly put, I liked what I saw. Oh, and just to be clear: they're from Colombia, NOT Columbia.

On a sidenote, we have recently acquired the much easier to remember domain name http://blackivorytower.com/

The old Wordpress domain name still works; it will just redirect you.

Wir sind wieder da! After last week's little treat, Black Ivory Tower is properly back in business as of today. We start out gently, with this review of Sühnopfer's latest album, 'Offertoire'. It's a more straightforward review in which I get childishly enthousiastic about the work of a band I've been following for quite some years now.

Stay tuned in the coming days, as new articles will be posted over the weekend, and across next week, including several short reviews and a brief interview with Kamaedzitca.

We had an interview with Aleg, the singer and lyricist of the Belarusian metal band Kamaedzitca. A part of this conversation is now available on the website; the rest will appear in print form later. We talk about nationalism, history, fitness and paganism.

To judge a man by his actions...
4 questions to Kamaedzitca
