Going to give this another spin today. My gateway to Black Witchery. Quite a debated album for several reasons. More of a death metal vibe than the debut. Surely one of the straight up meanest sounding slabs of chaotic war ever. Thoughts?

Edit: Forgot to mention it's probably my favourite artwork done for Black Witchery. One of Moyen's best covers. I like the goat skull logo in the booklet too.

Unbelievably ugly album. When it's cranked up it absolutely rips.

with the production of Desecration would be incredibly more blaspheme satanic 666. my favorite track is Scorned and crucified, but I'd like that better if it was longer.

Production is garbage compared to Desecration..., but that is what gives it its charm. Great LP, just like everything they've done really. 666.

It is their weakest album....mostly because of the production. Its really holding back. Desecrations was perfect.

I thought this album was weaker than the first one when I first heard it. Now I consider this one more brutal than the first one.

If I remember right, this one was home recorded with two mics, but the real damage was in the mixing and production. One of my favorite albums.

Their best album, in my opinion. I got into them with the Conqueror split and felt they got more and more barbaric, culminating in Upheaval. The newest album is good, but in terms of raw, ridiculous violence, Upheaval takes the cake.

No other band managed to strip down the Blasphemy/Bestial Warlust/Conqueror sound to semi-Von levels without losing aggression, even making it more anthemic and fist-pumping if possible.
Can’t really choose between the first 2 albums.

I think Desecration of the Holy Kingdom easily destroys "Upheaval..." and "Inferno..."

First album will always be the best though I do think Impurath's vocals sound better nowadays. A lot more power to 'em especially at live shows.
