Their only English album from 1988 is fantastic! Haven't heard anything better from them.

Another cool Russian band to check out is MASTER. Their first album has some similarities to KRUIZ.

Seriously? This LP was quite easy to find years ago but maybe the stock did finally dry. Try the usual German vinyl mafia if they are still active. They may not charge you big prices on this one.

I still like this LP a lot, too. This isn't the most groundbreaking thing to come out the USSR nor the greatest but it's a damn fine album nevertheless. The songs are solid and "In Flames" is a fucking hit song.

@TD666: Thanks for the cool video link! Cool

Might be available from metalism.net.

The postal crisis should be over by now, as far as I know.

That's probably the first time ever anybody compared Grazhdanskaya Oborona and Kruiz. Laughing

Never really cared much for old Russian Metal although Korrozia and Avgust had some pretty good songs.

Grazhdanskaya Oborona, on the other hand, was something special, IMO. Doubt many (any?) people here would appreciate it though.

GROB was good, but not really similar to Kruiz, indeed. As for their KRUIZ-1 record - it was released on MELODIA records (the company that released pretty much everything in the USSR, be it music for children, pop, army marches, classic music, rock, some metal as well) and sold 12 MILLION copies back in the time, so it shouldn't be rare.

Gaina has been living in the US since 1989 and nowadays he has a new band (and a horrible English accent, when he speaks Russian! Laughing ) , with which he toured the ex-USSR (or still touring?) not so long ago, I think. It's more relaxed stuff, though.

KRUIZ was good but there are better bands to discover when it comes to Mother Russia (i.e. MAGNIT, CREDO, VARVAR, etc...)
