Love this album's mournful-yet-militant melodies, drunken hooligan vocals, and the general atmosphere of, uh, warlike nostalgia for long-gone days of ye olde Teutonic brigandry and bloodlust.

Recommendations for similar albums...?

One of the best Absurd albums. First thing that comes to mind is Honor. Absurd is very unique band hard to compare them to anyone really.

Not bad, thank you. The influence is obvious - they've even got a song called Absurd!

Not really doing it for me. Too happy-sounding, rock'n'roll, boogie woogie.

I've only heard their split with Graveland. Where do I begin?

Most of Honor discography is RAC, and not metal like on the Graveland split. Along with that split, propably the 2CD compilation titled 1989-1999 where they re-recorded old songs with more metal sound. That should do it.

As far as Honor goes definitely check out "In Flames of the Rising Power".

For HONOR you can't really go wrong with any releases. For stuff stuff similar to Blurgericht, I'd say go with:

"In the Fire of the Last Battle"
"To Survive for Victory Vol. 1 & 2"
"W Dzien Triumfu" (the 2001 version)"

and to a lesser extent

"In the Flames of Rising Power"
