This band is OK at best. The guitar tone on New Dark Age is some of the worst I've ever heard in my life.

I still listen to Solstice periodically hoping it will click. I like all the influences that they bring to their music. I just never got the accolades people heap on that New Dark Age album. There are certainly worse bands out there.

Wasn't Rob Barrett formerly of Malevolent Creation in this band?

EDIT

Quote:
The Solstice is coming out on No Remorse Records from Greece, I'm not sure when but understand it'll come in a wooden box. I would assume there will be a standard edition but there's no news yet.

This looks great, just picked up a copy. I liked the clips a listened to on youtube of this material.

Any other bands that have this sound?

If you like Solstice check out Scald, Isen Torr, Twisted Tower Dire, Terminus, Warlord, Omen, maybe early While Heaven Wept if you are into the sound on the first album and demos.

I like all those bands you mention but don't like Solstice... Not my cup of tea I guess.
