The labels say it's too limited to wholesale.

Indeed. I just ordered a personal copy. I have the tape, this is totally worth the $30 to me.

This simply is a joke. Unless the production costs for this were under 1500 Euro the only reason this is being released and distributed this way is simply so it can exist and a bunch of people that want it can't have it. White Medal is popular enough where runs of 300-500 would probably be justified. Basically it mocks the fans of the band, that want to own this on vinyl. Especially anyone in this country who doesn't feel like paying 30 bucks for an LP (which is sadly becoming the norm) to get something they probably already have.

100 lps are expensive to produce, $30 is 18 so to ship to the US your looking at 8. 10 for an lp ltd to 100 surely isnt expensive? I've seen 7"s for a similar unit cost.

To support Vega360; the 1st WM album was pressed twice by Seedstock for a total of 400 lp's. I would imagine this band has much more interest, and thus, has a higher demand, today.

The Tread the Earth LP was limited to 100. It was available for at least six months. Wasn't this tape supposed to be demo recordings of songs on the upcoming LP?

that's what they SAY.
Finding a manufacturer that will do minimum runs of 250 12"s is near impossible. I hav my doubts that ANY manufacturer WILL press ANY VINYL in editions ov 100 and even if they do the cost to the label per unit will already be at a 1:1 ratio to what the market will bear for a 12" pricing, in other words, 100 12" LPs would probably cost about 10$ -15$ EACH TO MAKE --BEFOR RETAIL.
I'm getting that same feeling I did when I received that ULVER 'night madrigals' LP knocking about in an empty pizza box with a CENTURY MEDIA logo on it; I smell a label strategizing avariciously.
Case in point; Consumers are repeatedly accusing vendors ov overpricing what is priced fairly or (in my case) BELOW THE PROFIT MARGIN, because ov PRODUCTION COSTS.
Anyway, I'm not indicting this band or label; what the market will bare is the what the market will bare, IF they CAN sell, so be it.

You can get runs of 250 done through GZ, the largest vinyl manufacturer, via Pirates Press for a very reasonable rate. Plenty of other smaller plants will do runs of 100 or even less, although yes, of course, the plating & mastering costs will remain the same & the per-unit price is driven up substantially. If these labels say it's 100 copies, I believe them.

Well, pressing 100 copies of a wanted record is a dick move anyway. It's the most usual tactic to hype something, because people want a certain release when it's too limited. Because of these things CDs don't sell that well anymore and labels / bands complain "ooohhh people are downloading our stuff!!! they don't support the scene!!!!". Well, there are some reasons why that stuff happens.

That's who I hav to use.
There is no other choice.
I wouldn't call their production costs "reasonable".
It's a break-even proposition to retail them at 15$..
..and then forum members insult you for doing it.
