Because metal fans tend to be on the self entitled, whining side of the spectrum.

There are real reasons too. I agree that metal fans (actually, just fans of anything in general - trust me, hardcore gamers to name just one group put us to shame) tend to be entitled whiners. But in this case, it's rather justified. Long-running beloved band puts out very little material for years and years of existence. Promises a long-awaited full length for more than a decade. Nothing happens. Then more nothing happens. Then finally they re-surface with an EP - not an album, but previous EPs were great and so that sounds alright. Then it's delayed long past when it seems like it should have come out. Then said EP turns out to include a cover of a song no one really likes from the lesser modern era of a band people USED to like, and a couple old songs or castoffs reworked, making it seem like a glorified hodgepodge release rather than a proper EP. And finally we find out it costs an arm and a leg.

I'm pretty sure that at least two of these three songs will be good to great. Worth the price? Maybe, if you're really into the band. For a lot of us, maybe not. Ultimately, it just feels like they're doing something to keep their name out there and feel a little active, and yeah - after all these years waiting on an album or another real EP or SOMETHING, this is disappointing. I don't blame Costa, any label with sense would jump at the chance to release anything from SI. But I do feel like this is something I would have bought blind if it didn't have so many strikes against it - if it consisted of three new tracks, if it came out a year earlier, if it cost a few dollars less. As it is, I'm just going to wait for this material to pop up on an inevitable compilation CD years down the line.

I do wish this new EP was longer and that it contained more original material, but I'm still excited about it. I can understand the frustration of people who have been fans for years and have been waiting for The Second Coming, but I will gladly take any new Sadistic Intent material I can get. They've never released anything bad and they've remained true to the underground community since their inception. You can't say that about many bands who have been around for over two decades. I'm looking forward to picking up the 12" when they get it in stock at their store.

I definitely feel the same way about the choice of FOAD. I haven't heard the SI version but my initial thoughts were "of all of the stuff out their why that song"??

Regarding cost, I see this a little differently, I wouldn't call it an arm and leg.The fact it's on 12" is definitely the best format in regards to longevity. The price may be slightly higher in that format, to me it's worth it, in the end. I have some 7" EPs that end up playing like shit in no time (Atomic Aggressor / Death Yell split goddammit). This is because the vinyl is too thin and they start skipping or gigging up. And I take really good care of them and my equipment.

Regarding a proper full length, yes they owe their fans an album, after all of these years, but when you see them churn out a live set of all "A" material that spans their entire discography I can accept that too. Like someone else said: 1 Sadistic song sweeps up entire albums by other some bands.

What is, by the way, the best/easiest/cheapest way to get all/most of their material on CD? Resurrection of the Ancient Black Earth seems to be a collection of all EPs, so I guess that's better than nothing?

Yep Resurrection of the Ancient Black Earth covers a lot and it's an official release on Iron Pegasus or if you are lucky you can find the Dark Realm Records release.

Then there is also a bootleg out on CD called Impending Doom...Conflict Before the Storm, that I've seen recently at HHR iirc. It contains the Conflict Within demo, the Impending Doom EP originally out on Wild Rags Records and the Calm Before the Storm 7".

Good quality CD comes in jewel case with a mate paper booklet full of pictures and lyrics. Matrix has been Sharpie'd out. Plays nice and sounds excellent.

With the band's reputation you'd think there'd be plenty of labels willing to give them a good deal for the full-length (if all the delays are due to money issues that is). Or does the band not want to sign to any label?

I spoke with Rick about this, and while he didn't flat out say it, their whole partnership with Jeff / Possessed really knocked the wind out of them. They spent a lot of time bringing Possessed back in shape. Anyone that saw SI covering the Possessed Material saw that the band was tighter than the singer.

During this stint as Possessed a lot of bad shit happened, between Emilio Marquez and the Cortez brothers, so they lost their drummer. Their landlord evicted them from the store front so they had to move Dark Realm on top of this.

If you speak with them about their music you'll see that Rick is a perfectionist. He does everything calculated. Their second guitarist Ernesto basically said we Learn And practice over and over until the shits right otherwise Rick is not going to play it or you're out of the band. So after losing their drummer they had to spend time regrouping and finding a good fit.

So bringing out the album is just matter of everything being perfect. Rick is really happy with Arthur, their new drummer, and he fucking kills live (the fills are incredible), so I think a new album will be around the corner because the timing is right.

FOAD is actually about a label that bootlegged their new songs live and said "here is your only chance to hear them cause SI is lazy". That put a fire under their asses.

It’s official, Sadistic Intent has a new release out and we’d like to announce that our 12” vinyl MLP is now available at/through Dark Realm Records! Thanks to all of you out there who have already gotten in contact about obtaining it from us, we appreciate your patience…
We’re proud of what we captured, it’s definitely oldschool and raw Sadistic Intent!! We still do not care about what “everybody else is doing” trend mentality and we have not compromised! This new MLP is a unique one for us but just like in the past with our previous works, when we record something it needs to take us to that state of mind, simply put we need to enjoy it or we’d rather not release it. The reason we’re still around is because we’re very into what we do and we’re grateful for the support we’ve received and what we have accomplished as an underground band!
This is just the beginning, we still have an arsenal of Death Metal darkness to be unleashed but in the meantime, the next chapter has begun and we’re back “Reawakening Horrid Thoughts”...

BTW, for those interested in split release with Pentacle. I came across an interview where Rick said that their side of wax will contain other 2 tracks written for Possessed. HA!

Just got it and currently listening to it.
It's HEAVY. Very well done.
The black version is much more evil looking.
Saw the blue and grey ones. Not impressive.

I ordered black too. It's cheaper and way more evil looking than other versions for sure. Only classic black vinyl is real!
