the only classic is Slayer Mag!

I enjoy outshitten cunt and hellish massacre as well, wouldn't call them classics though.

Get the Quadrivium "Hell" book. That should keep you busy for a couple of months at least. Over 300 pages of incredible layouts, killer writing, etc.

If somehow you've missed out on the Isten book thus far it should also be at the top of your purchase list.

Voice of the Night, Call From the Grave, hmm...honestly I'm pretty picky about zines but those are good ones.

Always enjoyed Darkmoon and Isten way more than Slayer.

Your main problem is "active and easy to get". There are tons of wonderful zines, but most are defunct. But, sticking to your parameters as closely as possible, here are a few:

KALEIDOSCOPE
THE SERPENT BEARER
THE SINISTER FLAME
DEVILMENT
STRATANAEL
BLACK IVORY TOWER
HATE MEDITATION
VATRA I SUMPOR (for the artwork and PROCLAMATION interview alone)

... you know, there may be plenty of threads on good fanzines but what I'm looking for now is truly classic stuff in the vein of HORRIBLE EYES, DAUTVHS or even SERPENTSCOPE. Dense and interesting interviews to relevant bands, more text than image, good layouts if possible, etc.

Mainly active and/or easy to get.

Your turn!!

Shameless promotion but what the hell :

Zombi Danz Zine :

Agreed about ZOMBI DANZ! Best CULTES DES GHOULES interview I've ever read.

I was featured in Stratanael Mag, so I'll forever regard that as the apex of underground zines. Laughing
