I really wish the band would play more of the first half of Marrow live. It's my favorite material and it looks like nobody has gotten to see it performed. I saw them in NOLA last year and it was fan-fucking-tastic anyway, but it's always a bit of a letdown to miss out on one's favorite material.

I'll also note that I wasn't bored or thinking about time for one minute of the 2 hour set. And I am one impatient asshole. Performing a track like Faustian Echoes on stage is no easy feat and they absolutely killed it.

The played "Into The Painted Grey" at the Blind Pig last summer....it was spectacular.

Kneel To The Cross (Sol Invictus cover)

Huh? How does that work?

Not really familiar with Agolloch but all the stuff I've heard sounds like generic stodgy Neurosis/Isis kind of thing...as far removed from Sol Invictus as possible.

Ah well, I can see they're obviously slick at what they do, even if just feels like they're repackaging the whole post-metal/Hydra Head sound. Each to their own, not my cuppa etc etc.

I don't know what band(s) you have been listening to but Agalloch sound nothing like Neurosis/Isis.

I agree for the most part, I enjoy the music but the whole metal/black metal image is painstakingly tacked on. I often think of how much better the band would be w/o their singer's awful attempt at harsh vocals. Also last time they toured the US I bought some sort of limited LP that I then sold covering the cost of mine and my friends' show tickets as well as gas money and then some, so thanks Agalloch fans.

Without harsh vocals, they would sound like any other rock bands. I guess what we like about Agalloch is black metal style vocals with atmospheric prog-folk-rock music. There is no doubt that they are extremely talented musicians.

Agalloch and Hydread bands have NOTHING in common...

This "hipster" thing is totally ridiculous, really...

I wasn't calling them hipsters. The songs that someone posted in this thread are pretty much just post-metal - chords, mood etc. Just an observation. If you have examples that prove otherwise, please post some.

Like I said, what I heard was ok but not really my thing. The Sol Invictus cover was pointless though, and seemed pretty removed from the spirit of the original.

If you are really serious about giving the band a chance here are some samples. The Sol Invictus cover really doesnt represent the band that well. Also I dont think listening to a youtube sample is the best way to experience the band.....you need to listen to the album all the way through on a good stereo.....but here ya go.

Saw them last night, really great 2 hour+ concert. They even played two songs from "Pale Folklore" which is their best record, so I'm more than satisfied. Recommended!

I guess that's a sold out show in Holland. Please remember to drop your comment after the show.
