Streetlight Records San Jose just bought someone's collection and is selling off a lot of great old stuff. I just got back from there and saw the following:

All 80's pressings:

Celtic Frost morbid tales MLP no poster $40
Destruction infernal overkill LP $40
Coroner rip LP $40
Diamond Head LP (the one with the cathedral on the cover) $40
King Diamond fatal portrait LP $30 I think
Danzig s/t LP repress
Nihilist demos collection LP on Southern Lord
OZ 12" EP with Quorthon's hand holding a skull. Don't remember the title.
Slayer 12" EP don't remember which one
Slayer second album with shrink wrap still on the jacket. slit open on the side.
Celtic Frost tragic serenades pic LP $40
etc.

Not exactly cheap but pretty cool to see them "in the wild" at a real record store.

Streetlight is one of the best record shops around. Amoeba is good, but Streetlight remains much more untouched by the hipster record craze.

Ok I'll snag it if it's still there when I go back.

What else would you expect from someone from the Rugged Lands of Shaolin? Of course he's going to spit darts!

I forgot what it's like back home haha.
Everytime I go to disk union I see nothing but insanely rare nwobhm and punk records.
It would be great if there was something like DU in the states, but discogs and ebay probably play a part in that not happening.

used to pick up the best stuff at that location in the $1 bins underneath back in the 90's. The stuff now seen for $40 was always $3-$7 bucks...

Now I have to throw on the 36 Chambers. Cool

I live 10min away. Might have to grab another Morbid Tales before any of you blashpemous_lusts get your greasy hands on it.

Yeah true. I think my best score was the Sadus Illusions lp for 7 dollars from the Berkeley Rasputin. It was around 2002 or 2003. The next time I saw it years later it was priced at 60 dollars...

Of course, we only have eBay and Discogs to blame for this. On the other hand, they also make tracking down rarities much easier.

YK found a lot of killer stuff in Berkeley back in the day. I have found something interesting most times I've visited, but nothing crazy. Those days are mostly gone.

it's definitely kind of disheartening what an anomalous event this has become, but still the number one thing that keeps me, and i'm sure most of us, digging through bins tho

In that case, you're welcome.
