Anyone ever used one of these? I was thinking about giving one a try for the hell of it.

It would sound better and cost nothing to just plug in a cassette deck's output into the Line-In of your computer, record with Audacity, and export in your choice format.

That's pretty much what I was thinking too but I need a new walkman anyway so I figured the extra feature would either be useful or worthless, no harm done.

In times when you see EVERY MONGOLOID on the street with a tablet, Ipad, mobile phone or whatever digital gadget you can have to be connected with any kind of media, information or communication all the time I GLADLY listen only to music at home.

Still have a walkman somehwere. Defunct since aeons, like the discman (which always sucked).

I'm pretty much always walking around listening to music on headphones because it's much easier to avoid unwanted interactions with people + it blocks out the sound of morons yelling into their phones.

I still have a walkman and it works fine, but I generally use the ipod because it's much smaller/easier to shove in a pocket.

WALKMAN = ANTi-POD

That said, if I'm not at home or in my car, I would be listening to music on my phone. The last thing I need is another gadget (analog or digital) to carry along with me.

I think I still got my old Walkman, but I have no idea whether it's still working. No i-pod here though, just a cheap mp3 player, I don't really like and will probably never like mp3s. I do download stuff, but nothing can ever replace the physical medium the same way.

i use my walkman daily. no ipods or portable mp3 players here. sometimes use a discman when im just having a smoke outside and want to listen to something specific but generally Walkman it is.

mine is a sony sport that my parents used when it was still practical. Gets a lot of wear by me and its still perfect.

got a craig one as a backup for like 13$ and it SUCKSSSS. like unlistenable. sounds like a dying toy voice all the time.

walkman rules because it forces you to always make personal tapes for yourself, which i have over 90 of by now. if more people did this they could give me theirs and it wouldn't suck so bad. always end up giving them to people, speaking of this, need to re-dub the timeghoul discography/

I use mp3 files all the time and any idiot that shuns the format is total jackass.. Its great having 50 albums on my phone at all times -- sure beats the days of having a million cassettes in the car or back pack - and crushing the cases --
I collect vinyl and cassette as well as CD's - My job is in a cubicle and listening to music all day is a nice thing.

but I have a SSONY Walkman that I purchased on AMAZON used - its a early 90's model and works great!! paid 30 bucks - I highly recommend the thread starter do a search on amazon,,

I do listen to cassettes hear and there at work for the stuff that I only have on cassette

here is a decent deal for 38 dollars used

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-WM-FX290-Stereo-Cassette-Weather/dp/B0001MMH9E/ref=pd_sim_e_9

I lucked out and got a older model - don't see as many as there were 3 years ago - guess cassette are getting trendy - time to go 8 track

I do collect cassettes but I ain't lugging them around. Mp3 player or my tablet work fine. Ripping isn't hard to do either (Line In+Audacity on PC).
