Probably my favorite band and one of the best post-2000 bands. It's nearly impossible for me to choose between debut album and Crush the Insects. Both are flawless.

What do you think of their side projects? Lord Vicar debut was pretty good, but haven't heard the newest one. Also big fan of Orne. Not really familiar with the things Albert did. Anything you can recommend?

I liked both The Puritan and Armanenschaft. As for best album, I have no idea. I'm gonna choose III because I'm sure nobody else will.

I am a total RB fanboy. I'm of the opinion they've never made a bad record, but III is my favorite, it's their fucking masterpiece. How do you make a 150 minute record flawless? Beats me. But they did.

Love Orne too, as much as Reverend Bizarre.

I had to go with Crush the Insects on this one, for most consistency. I'm a big fan of Reverend Bizarre but they always have one song per album that I just don't like. Those songs are Slave of Satan, Cirith Ungol, and Sorrow.

I chose the album I did simply because Slave of Satan is a shorter annoyance than Cirith Ungol. They're both longer than feels necessary to me, and neither one has much of a payoff in the end which is something I really appreciate from longer RevBiz tracks. Crush the Insects is a bit more pace-y than the debut, and each song tends to stand on its own a little stronger in my opinion. Fucking worship Doom Over the World, The Devil Rides Out, Cromwell, and especially Council of Ten...

I listen to the first two albums and Harbinger of Metal quite a bit. I just got So Long Suckers and don't have any firmly held opinions on that one yet, other than Sorrow is boring and the rest of the tracks seem pretty awesome. Usually never listen to the whole thing in one go though, just one disc or the other.

Really dislike RB. Nothing I've heard has changed my opinion on them.

I do like The Puritan though.

Gods of doom !The first album is one ageless, dark and hyper-heavy masterpiece and one of the best records EVER!
We are talking about a very heavy and monolithic music, which very few bands can feel and play.
I wonder how their second album can be compared with the first one.1st is beyond any fantasy!!
All of their albums leave miles away any other releases of this genre.
And as far as I know ,Albert has a light mental illness. This maybe makes this band so special.
Hail RB!

Yeah I fully expect to be in the minority when it comes to not loving Cirith Ungol. I wanted to like it a lot, but I don't think I've ever been able to listen to the whole thing and stay "focused" on the music.

Fucking Wizard is SAVED by the upshift at the end, for me personally. I thought I had another Slave of Satan on my hands with that one.

It's a tie between Rectory and So Long Suckers for me. Harbinger sucks!

Also I just recently discovered that the song "Doom Sower" from Rectory uses the exact same riff as "Bloody Pussies" from Hellhammer.

This.

I voted for In the Rectory. Flawless album.

And I also don't like Slave of Satan and Sorrow (and From the Void I).

In the Rectory is easily the best album. Quite close to perfection from start to finish + it's the first one I heard from them. Harbinger of Metal is great too and is my second favorite. Crush the Insects is a good album but I pretty rarely feel like listening to it. I liked So Long Suckers when it came out, but after a few listens it became clear that it IS too long for it's own sake. It would have been a damn fine album if it was about half the length. There is just too much repetition. The first song is great though.
