Used to be an emusic subscriber but that site took a serious nosedive in a lot of different ways. Every so often now I'll buy something on Amazon or Bandcamp. For the most part though, I'd prefer laying out a few extra bucks for a physical copy, if one is available. _________________ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com |

It amazes me to see stuff on Amazon where the album on MP3 costs £7.99 and the cd can be bought "new and used from" £2 or something ridiculous _________________

Bandcamp! All money goes straight to the band/label and they have great package options. So user friendly, too. |

I never do it, I think paying for mp3s is rather ridiculous. But then again that's just my opinion. _________________ Sic transit gloria mundi |

I bought one song from the new Mechina album Empyrean. I prefer buying the physical CD though. _________________ Well black metal doesn't really go in that group... at all.... Black metal is all witches and warlocks and graveyards....

Yep, mp3s are just a means to check out new things. Then I'll spend money on physical copies of anything I like.
Bandcamp is pretty good for streaming though. |

I would only consider purchasing mp3s if there's no physical copy available. |

Well, at least in Bandcamp the material can be downloaded in various formats, like wav or flac, so you can download it as cd-quality instead of mp3. |

Bought from iTunes and Bandcamp. I'm not hugely hung up on the whole physical thing, I like records but I have no problem handing a buck over for a song on my phone (especially if it's the only song I like) _________________ Ignivomous merch: abaddon_963[at]hotmail.com

If the CD price managed to get that low, most probably nobody will pay 8 Pounds for a download either.

Also you can choose the format of the download, which is something that makes Bandcamp better than CDbaby, for example. _________________ Infernal Rock N' Roll: WWW.INFERNALROCKNROLL.BANDCAMP.COM

That's pretty much my policy now. I have a handful of albums that have never and likely will never been released physically, so I pay for the download instead. For a while I was consuming more stuff digitally, when I was on emusic, but the reason was that emusic was pretty cheap and I felt like I was still supporting the bands and labels - and back then they were indie-centric so it really seemed like it was bands and labels that needed the support. Since then they've jacked up their prices, added a lot of major labels and eliminated a lot of the small ones, so fuck 'em. _________________ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com |

i can't get around digital downloads, would rather just buy something physical and tangible.
And i'm going to look at it this way...if a band's releases are for sale digitally but not physically...this is not a band worth hearing, especially when so many amazing bands are putting out physical albums still, and even more so there's enough physical music currently in existence that i wouldn't even be able to listen to it all, so there will always be another band to get. |
