The only rational thing to do here for the seller is 1. eat the 71 cents, and 2. figure that into your pricing going forward. Asking somebody you already invoiced for extra money to cover fees after the fact is incredibly dumb.

He's a legitimate Greek seller. These same items are on Ebay under Total_Chaos_79 (or some form of that name).

All of his listings are private, though, which leads me to believe that he just shill bids his stuff up like speedevilucifer

The thing is you can't charge PayPal fees, it's against the Discogs policy as far as I know... so you should let Discogs knows about it and suspend the fucker.

It's actually against paypals policy for any seller to ever pass on the charge this includes the 99% of distros that pass it on to the buyer. I have no problem paying it once it's mentioned up front also if the seller offers alternative methods of payment why should they responsible for the fee if the buyer chooses to pay by paypal.

Is it really against PayPal's policy? Check the current wording they have changed the send payments page to.

It is they said it to me over the phone a while ago the only reason it's against their policy is because they think if someone is offered the choice of paypal with an extra fee or some other method with no fee the buyer will choose the alternative to paypal which will mean less profit for paypal.

It should be the responsibility of the buyer to cover the fee because they are the ones who benefit the most when it comes to paypal.

I occasionally sell stuff on Discogs and have never charged paypal fees. I have no problems with distros charging paypal fees...most distros will be selling stuff everyday and the paypal fees do add up.

I have seen some Discogs sellers in the past charging Paypal and Discogs fees which I think is taking the piss.

This is exactly what I was just about to post. Any reasonable person just would have ate the 71 cents and chalked it up to a "learning experience" then adjusted their shipping prices ever so slightly for future orders.
