I guess that was true.

That sounds rather good. Too bad he passed away before anything got released.

A couple of days ago I was reached by the terrible news that my old brother David "Blackmoon" Parland had passed away and entered the eternal fire once and for all. It's taken me a few days to grasp it all. And it still hurts, alot, to even think ot talk about it.

During the last couple of weeks I was in close contact with David. He was going through an extremely difficult time of life, whereof he contacted me to ask for my help.

Even though the two of us had abit of a complicated relationship over the years, (much excessive in the media though) he knew that he could always call or visit me when needed, which he also did once in a while.

Last time I talked to him, was when he called me, on March 15. From what I could understand things were going in the right direction. I also had some very good news for him, which he was very happy to hear about. What happened after that I simply can't understand. And I cant understand WHY he didn't call me (again). So close, so fucking close to get back on track brother. Why?

You will be missed deeply! May you reign forever and ever in the eternal hellfire. Hail the hordes!

Lord Ahriman

A true black metal legend passes away. "The Secrets of the Black Arts" is for me personally a very important release, in which Blackmoon played a very sentral role, making some of the best material in older Swedish black metal. May he obtain what he is longing for.

Too bad as his next release could have been a really good one. Here's rough sample:

It's crazy how all his riffs sounds so similar. Most of the riffs could with slight altering be turned into pretty much any riff off Secrets of The Black Arts and the EP. Sounds alright though.

Necrophobic demos, 1st LP, to a lesser extent the 2nd LP were great. Dark Funeral 1st MLP, to a lesser extent the LP. Those are his legacy. Infernal and War were OK at best. You can say one thing, every band he was in was much worse off without him. RIP.

David was such a great guitar player, and has a good sense to compose some catchy riffs...still it seems that his best composing skills only lasted for a few years, but the again that's all what was needed...he was also a good pen-pal, and got from him the "Slow Asphyxiation" demo...his death might as well be caused by the constant pain he was suffering due to a crash with an elk like 10 years ago...go figure it...weird...there were interviews in where he stated he had little money due to going to doctors and then he was only using painkiller but never healing the root of the problem...chronic pain leads to many suicides...and thus he stated that quite a few times...he says that some painkillers in Sweden where not obtained without a recipe...and then again being unemployed for having those pains was a vicious circle...open the gaes of hell Blackmoon...he will surely be remembered...
