There's a clear continuum from Necroticism through Heartwork and eventually Swansong: gradually increasing amounts of rock and heavy metal, which the band clearly associate with being "musically proficient," at the same time they were bad-mouthing their former material.

This band have no idea why their fans like them, and were probably a brief flash in the pan as a result. I expect nothing from them; they don't want to be making metal anymore, and that's been the case for 20 years now. Why force them to?

Also Bill is doing vocals on the new album, so it should be a nod towards older stuff. After all, Bill didn't sing on the two last albums. So unless Bill and Jeff have decided to go for clean harmonies a'la The Beatles, the new album should be alright. I'll check it out for sure.

From Metal Injection:
"As for vocals, there will be Necroticism style growls on the new album courtesy of guitarist Bill Steer and Walker promises more range for his own vocal performance."

Hmmm....dont know what to think about this.
Are Steer and Walker known to be pains in the ass?
I have never once heard this of course, but I am sure there is more to this story.

I just hope the material is GOOD.
I kinda don't care who mixes/records it.

they've said the missing link between necro and heartwork

this can't be good. I hold no hope for this album. anything after Necroticism to me is a pile of shit.

Indeed! Not sure how I forgot the Peel sessions.
I wish I could get into the Carcass albums, but I just cannot. It's a great injustice.

does anyone really expect much good to come out of a carcass album released 18 years after their last album?

I won't. I'm assuming it sucks, because I wasn't into the last albums whatsoever and I'm not high on them releasing an album almost 20 years after the fact. I don't need to waste my time with it.

I don't think I've ever listened to Swansong nor Heartwork in full either
